Highfield Ultralite 240

Highfield Logo

The Ultralite 240 is small but mighty - a single deck dinghy built for shorter journeys from ship to shore, where you want something quick to launch and easy to stow rather than a full-sized tender.

Incredibly light at just 33kg boat-only weight, it's the kind of boat you can carry down the beach under one arm. The aluminium hull means you can explore the coastline and beaches with confidence, taking the odd rocky landing or sandy beaching in its stride rather than flinching at every knock.

It's a straightforward, no-fuss tender for owners who just need to get from A to B without the bulk or expense of a bigger boat.

Highfield Ultralite 240 Key Features

  • Compact 2.40m footprint - easy to store, easy to launch
  • Just 33kg boat-only weight, easily carried by one person
  • Carries up to 3 people with a 240kg maximum load
  • 3 air chambers for reassurance and redundancy
  • Anti-slip deck for sure footing when boarding or moving about
  • Available with PVC or Hypalon tubes - see below to find your fit

PVC or Hypalon tubes?

The Ultralite 240 is available with either PVC or Hypalon tubes. In short: PVC offers excellent value and performs well for boats used seasonally and stored under cover, while Hypalon costs more upfront but offers superior UV resistance and longevity - worth it if the boat will live outdoors or see heavy use.

Read our full PVC vs Hypalon tubes guide for a proper breakdown of the differences, or get in touch and we'll help you pick the right fit for how you'll use the boat.

FAQs

How many people can the Ultralite 240 carry? The Ultralite 240 is rated for up to 3 people, with a maximum load of 240kg for crew and cargo combined. That figure doesn't include the engine, fuel or water, so worth keeping in mind when you're loading up.

What size engine do I need for the Ultralite 240? It's rated to a maximum of 6hp, which is plenty for short ship-to-shore hops without adding unnecessary weight to such a light boat.

How much does the Ultralite 240 weigh? The boat alone weighs just 33kg, so it's light enough for most owners to carry or wheel down the beach without help.

Is the Ultralite 240 suitable for beach landings? Yes - the aluminium hull is built to take beach landings and the odd rocky shoreline in its stride, so you can explore with confidence rather than worrying about damage.

Is the Ultralite 240 a good choice for short trips only, or can it handle more? It's best suited to shorter ship-to-shore journeys rather than longer distances - the compact size and 6hp rating keep it light and easy to handle, but if you need more range or capacity, it's worth looking at the Classic range instead.
