Highfield Ultralite 240 PVC

Highfield Ultralite 240 PVC are designed for those who want the performance of a rigid hull without the usual weight penalty. At just 33kg, this boat is a genuine alternative to traditional soft-bottomed inflatables. Its high-tensile, powder-coated aluminium hull provides the durability to handle shingle beaches and rocky shorelines with total confidence.

Whether you are looking for a reliable ship-to-shore tender or a lightweight boat to explore the local coastline, the UL 240 is incredibly easy to manage. It is light enough to be launched and recovered by a single person and can even be transported on a standard car roof rack. Inside, you’ll find an uncluttered, ergonomic layout that maximises space for up to 3 passengers, making every trip ashore a comfortable one.

Highfield Ultralite 240 PVC FAQs

How light is the Highfield Ultralite 240, and can I launch it by myself?

One of the best things about the UL240 is its weight. The boat alone weighs just 33kg. This makes it a genuine "one-person" boat; it’s light enough to be launched and recovered by a single adult and can even be carried on a quality car roof rack.

What is the difference between the PVC and Hypalon versions?

This model features high-quality PVC (Mehler Texnologies). PVC is fantastic for use in the UK and cooler climates; it is lightweight, cost-effective, and the seams are welded for maximum durability. If you plan on keeping your boat in the Mediterranean or high-UV tropical areas for long periods, we might suggest looking at the Hypalon version, but for British waters, PVC is a superb and popular choice.

What size outboard engine do I need?

The UL240 is rated for a maximum of 6hp. However, because the aluminium hull is so light and efficient, it performs brilliantly with a 4hp engine. We recommend a short-shaft outboard for this model. At Morgan Marine, we stock a range of new and used engines—feel free to ask us for a package deal!

How many people can the boat comfortably carry?

The official capacity is 3 adults plus 1 child, with a maximum load weight of 296kg. It’s surprisingly roomy for a 2.4m boat, thanks to the thin aluminium hull design which allows for more internal floor space compared to traditional GRP (fibreglass) boats.

Is the aluminium hull durable enough for beaching?

Absolutely. Highfield is famous for its 2.5mm thick high-tensile chromated and powder-coated aluminium hulls. Unlike fibreglass, you don’t have to worry about gelcoat chips when pulling up onto a shingle beach or dragging it across a slipway. It also features a full-length keel guard as standard for that extra bit of protection.

Does the deck get slippery when wet?

Not at all. The UL240 comes with a non-slip deck as standard, providing excellent grip underfoot. This makes it much safer for hopping in and out of the boat from a larger yacht or a jetty.

What accessories come included with the boat?
When you buy a UL240 from us, it comes ready to go with:

    • A removable aluminium seat
    • A Highfield dry bag
    • Foot pump, oars, and a basic repair kit
    • Integrated lifting points and towing eyes (perfect for use with davits)

Can I tow this boat behind my main vessel?

Yes, the Ultralite range is designed with towing in mind. It features integrated tow bridle points on the hull to ensure it tracks well and stays stable behind your mother ship while under way.

What is the warranty coverage?

Highfield offers an excellent warranty. The hull structure is generally covered for 5 years, and the PVC tubes/components have a 2-year warranty. To keep the warranty valid, the boat must be registered, and we can help you with all the paperwork here at Morgan Marine.
