Zipwake Dynamic Trim Control System
Zipwake Dynamic Trim Control System is a fully automatic and active stabilization system designed for planning and semi-planning boats. It uses high-speed interceptors (vertical blades) instead of traditional trim tabs to manage boat attitude.
Zipwake Dynamic Trim Control System Key Features
- Minimizes wave resistance and optimizes trim to get the boat on plane faster, improving fuel economy and visibility.
- Active Roll Control: Automatically eliminates listing caused by wind, load distribution, or waves to keep the boat level.
- Coordinated Turns: Automatically adjusts heeling angles during turns to minimize lateral G-forces for a safer, more comfortable ride.
- Speed: Interceptors extend at least 5 to 10 times faster than conventional trim tabs, typically completing a full stroke in about 1.5 seconds.
- Sensors: The system includes a built-in GPS, 3D-gyro, and 3D-accelerometer to monitor boat motion in real-time.
- Efficiency: Because interceptors project only 30–60mm into the water (compared to ~150mm for trim tabs), they create more lift with significantly less drag.
- Integration: Can be integrated with NMEA 2000 networks and controlled via compatible Multifunction Displays (MFDs).
-
- A pair of fast-acting blades.
- Control Panel: An intuitive 3D interface with a sunlight-readable colour display.
- Distribution Unit: The power hub that can accommodate up to six interceptors.
- Cabling: All necessary interconnection wiring looms and extensions
Zipwake Dynamic Trim Control System FAQs
What size boat does it fit?
Zipwake offers two series based on vessel length:
-
- Series S:For boats from 20 to 60 feet (6 to 18 meters).
- Series E: For larger vessels from 50 to 100 feet (15 to 30 meters).
At what speed is it effective?
The system is designed for boats cruising at 10 knots or more. On extremely fast boats, blades automatically retract at 60 knots to prevent damage.
Which should I choose Manual vs. Automatic?
While most owners use the Auto mode for hands-free stability, the system features a control panel with 3D wheels for manual adjustments.
Does this unit require GPS ?
No external GPS is required. The control head includes a built-in high-frequency GPS, 3D gyro, and accelerometer. It can, however, connect to external GPS via NMEA 2000 if the signal is obstructed.
What is the typical Response Time ?
Zipwake interceptors are significantly faster than traditional trim tabs. Standard models deploy in roughly 1.5 seconds, while the PRO Series can reach full extension in just 0.3 seconds.
Speed & Drag: Interceptors create more lift with less drag than traditional tabs because they have a much smaller surface area
