The 6X3 mechanical kit is designed for Yamaha’s Mechanical Control (MC) outboards that use "push-to-open" throttle action. This typically includes most EFI models from the F20 up to the F300.

Note: If you have a "Drive-by-Wire" (DEC) engine, you would require the 6X9 digital version of this kit. If you're unsure, just give us your engine serial number and we'll confirm compatibility for you.

What makes the 6X3 "Concealed" mount better than a standard side mount?

A standard side mount (like the 703) is bolted onto the surface of the boat. The 6X3 is a "Flush Mount," meaning only the ergonomic handle and a slim faceplate are visible. It provides a much cleaner, factory-finished look—perfect for RIBs, centre consoles, and modern day-boats where space and aesthetics are a priority.

What can I see on the CL5 Touchscreen Gauge?

The CL5 is a massive upgrade over traditional round gauges. It acts as the "nerve centre" of your boat, displaying:

  • Performance: Fuel flow, fuel economy, and remaining fuel (when connected to your tank).

Can I install this on either the Port or Starboard side?

Yes. The 6X3 control is versatile and can be configured for either right-hand (starboard) or left-hand (port) mounting. However, the internal mechanisms are specific, so please let us know your boat's layout when ordering so we can ensure the lever action is set up correctly for your helm.

Do I need to buy anything else to complete the installation?

While this kit is very complete, you will still need:

• • Control Cables: You’ll need two "Remote Control Cables" (Throttle and Shift) in the specific length required for your boat’s run. We highly recommend the Yamaha Premium PowerMatched cables for the smoothest possible shifting.
  • Steering: This kit handles throttle and shift; your steering system (hydraulic or cable) remains separate.

Can I fit this myself?

While a confident DIYer can install the components, we strongly recommend professional installation by our engineers here at Morgan Marine. Correct calibration of the throttle/shift stroke and the initial setup of the CL5 digital network are vital for your safety and to protect your Yamaha warranty.
