Webasto Airtop 2000 STC 12 Volt Marine Kit
Webasto Airtop 2000 STC 12 Volt Marine Kit is the most compact air heater in its class, designed specifically to provide a warm, dry, and comfortable cabin environment. Whether you are overnighting on a weekend cruise or simply want to defrost the cabin before a morning's fishing, this diesel-fired heater delivers impressive heat output with remarkably low fuel and power consumption.
Engineered for the marine world, this kit features high-grade stainless steel components to withstand salt air and moisture. Its whisper-quiet operation—achieved through a silent-running fan and an advanced fuel dosing pump—ensures you get a good night's sleep without the "ticking" noise associated with lesser heaters.
Webasto Airtop 2000 STC 12 Volt Marine Kit Key Features
- Highly Efficient Performance: Delivers up to 2.0kW of heat output while sipping just 0.12 to 0.24 litres of diesel per hour.
- Whisper-Quiet Operation: Features an improved combustion air silencer and a dampened fuel pump to minimise noise both inside and outside the boat.
- Stepless Temperature Control: The intelligent sensors provide precise, constant temperatures, automatically adjusting the heat output between 0.9kW and 2.0kW.
- Marine-Grade Durability: Includes a stainless steel exhaust system and hull skin fitting designed to handle the corrosive marine environment.
- Low Battery Drain: Optimised to run on 12V systems with very low electrical power consumption, preserving your battery life while at anchor.
- Versatile Installation: Its compact footprint (311 x 120 x 121 mm) allows it to be tucked away in lockers or engine compartments, saving valuable cabin space.

Webasto Airtop 2000 STC 12 Volt Marine Kit FAQs
Is this kit specifically designed for boats?
Yes, absolutely. Unlike standard vehicle kits, this is a dedicated Marine Kit. It includes specific components essential for a safe and compliant boat installation, such as a marine-grade stainless steel hull skin fitting, a copper fuel line, an exhaust silencer, and a marine-specific wiring harness.
What size of boat is the Air Top 2000 STC suitable for?
The 2kW output is generally recommended for sailing and motorboats up to 30ft (9.5 metres). It is the perfect "all-rounder" for heating a main cabin or providing multi-outlet warmth in smaller vessels. If you have a larger yacht or require heavy-duty heating for extreme conditions, we may suggest moving up to the Air Top Evo 40.
Can I run this heater on "Red Diesel"?
Yes, you can. The Webasto Air Top 2000 STC is designed to run efficiently on standard UK diesel (white) or marked gas oil (red diesel). We do, however, recommend using high-quality fuel and ensuring your tank is free of water and sediment to maintain the long-term health of the burner.
How much fuel and battery power does it actually use?
One of the main reasons we recommend the 2000 STC is its incredible efficiency:
Fuel: It uses as little as 0.12 to 0.24 litres per hour, meaning a small tank goes a very long way.
Power: On a 12V system, it draws roughly 14–29 Watts during steady operation. It’s remarkably frugal, allowing you to stay warm at anchor without draining your domestic batteries.
Is it noisy? I’m worried about sleeping while it’s on.
Not with this kit. The Marine Kit includes a combustion air silencer and a noise-suppressed fuel dosing pump (using PWM technology). When installed correctly, the operation is "whisper quiet," making it ideal for overnight use in sleeping quarters.
Does the kit include ducting and outlets?
Our standard starter kit includes the main unit and the essential "through-hull" components, but ducting and air outlets are typically sold separately. This is because every boat layout is different. We stock a full range of 60mm ducting, Y-junctions, and closeable vents so we can tailor a package to your specific cabin layout.
Can I install this myself?
While many of our customers are capable "DIY-ers," we strongly recommend professional installation. To validate the full Webasto warranty and ensure compliance with the Boat Safety Scheme (BSS), the installation must be commissioned correctly. At Morgan Marine, we offer a professional fitting service at our Brightlingsea yard—just get in touch for a quote!
What is the difference between the Rotary and MultiControl options?
Rotary Controller: A simple, rugged dial to turn the heater on/off and adjust the temperature.
MultiControl (Digital): A programmable 7-day timer with a digital display. It allows you to set "wake-up" times so the boat is warm before you even arrive at the marina.
What kind of warranty comes with the unit?
When you purchase through Morgan Marine, the unit typically comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty. This covers the main components (excluding consumable service items like the burner screen/glow plug).
Does it provide "dry" heat?
Yes! Because the combustion process is completely sealed and the exhaust gases are vented outside via the hull fitting, the heat blown into your cabin is dry. This is excellent for reducing condensation and drying out damp gear or upholstery after a day on the water.
Still have questions?
We are here to help. If you're unsure about where to mount the unit or how many outlets you need, give the Morgan Marine team a call or visit us at the chandlery. We’ll make sure you get the right setup for your boat.
