Offset Driveshaft for Better Balance

Suzuki 90 HP Outboard Engine FAQs

• How do I determine the correct shaft length? Measure from the top of your boat's transom to the bottom of the keel. A measurement of 20-22 inches requires a "long" shaft, while 25 inches requires an "extra-long" shaft.
• Does the engine come with oil pre-filled? No, four-stroke Suzuki outboard motors do not come with engine oil in the crankcase; you must add the correct type and amount of oil before the first use. The lower unit gear oil, however, is pre-filled from the factory.
• Can I lay the motor on its side for transport? Yes, but you must lay it on the correct side as indicated by decals on the motor itself to prevent oil from entering parts of the engine where it shouldn't be.
• What is the required maintenance schedule? Regular service is recommended every 100 hours of operation or once a year, whichever comes first, by an authorized dealer. This typically includes changing engine oil and filters, lower unit oil, and spark plugs, and checking the water pump (impeller).
