• What type of fuel should I use? Suzuki recommends using alcohol-free unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 91 (Research method) whenever possible. If using a gasoline/alcohol blend, ensure it still meets the 91 octane rating, and install a water-separating fuel filter to prevent water contamination.
• What engine oil is recommended? Suzuki recommends using MOTUL Outboard Tech 4T 10W40 Technosynthese® oil, a lubricant designed for marine four-stroke engines operating in severe conditions.
• How often should I change the oil and filter? The engine oil and filter should be changed initially after 20 hours of use (or one month), and every 100-200 hours or at least annually thereafter, depending on usage and operating conditions.
• How often should I service the engine professionally? While routine checks can be done by the owner, it is recommended to have the outboard serviced by an authorized Suzuki Marine Dealer at least annually, or more frequently with heavy use, to maintain performance and safety.
• What is the break-in procedure for a new engine? For the first 20 hours of operation, you should vary the engine RPM frequently. Avoid running at a constant RPM or at full throttle for extended periods to allow the engine components, especially the piston rings, to properly seat.
