  • Water grip Propeller: A stainless steel propeller with a new interchangeable square shaped bush that offers efficient conversion of engine power to propulsion resulting in better grip and performance for our powerful outboards.

  • Suzuki Selective Rotation: Selective rotation offers a more robust gearing in the lower unit enabling the prop to rotate in both directions.

  • Variable Valve Timing (VVT): The system is controlled by hydraulic pressure from the oil pump and the process happens automatically so all you have to do is enjoy the power and performance.

  • Suzuki Lean Burn Control System: Suzuki's Lean Burn Fuel Control Technology predicts fuel needs according to operating conditions, then delivers the optimum fuel/air mixture to the engine resulting in greater fuel economy.

  • Suzuki Precision Control: This technologically advanced system gives smooth, precise control with crisp, immediate shifting particularly at low revs when manoeuvring and helps improve fuel efficiency.

Suzuki 150 HP Outboard Engine FAQs

  • What is the recommended engine oil? Suzuki recommends using SAE 10W-40  or 10W-30 Suzuki Marine 4-cycle engine oil. If not available, use a certified NMMA FC-W oil. In very cold weather (below 5°C or 41°F), 5W-30 may be used for easier starting.
  • What kind of fuel should I use? Use unleaded petrol with a minimum octane rating of 91 (Research method). Suzuki highly recommends using alcohol-free gasoline, but blends are acceptable if they meet octane requirements and guidelines are followed.
  • How often should I service the engine? Regular maintenance should be performed according to the service schedule in your owner's manual, judged by number of hours or number of months, whichever comes first. An authorized Suzuki Marine dealer should perform most maintenance items.
  • How should I break in a new engine?
    • The initial break-in period is 20 hours.
    • First Hour: Vary speeds below 3000 RPM after an initial warm-up, with only short bursts above 3000 RPM to get on plane.
    • Subsequent Hours (up to 20): Gradually increase RPMs, avoiding constant full throttle for extended periods.
    • Varying the RPM every 10-15 minutes helps the internal components seat properly, leading to better fuel efficiency and engine longevity.
  • What is the best operating RPM for fuel economy? For optimal fuel economy and operation, many find the best RPM range is between 4,000 and 4,500 RPM, depending on the boat's load and setup. The multi-function gauge provides real-time fuel data to help you adjust.
  • How long can the engine be expected to last? For recreational use with consistent care, Suzuki outboards often last 1,500 to 2,000 hours or more, which can translate to 15 to 20 years of service for many boaters.
