Scanstrut PTM-R1-1 tapered radar mast for Raymarine / Garmin / Navico

Scanstrut PTM-R1-1 tapered radar mast for Raymarine / Garmin / Navico is the ultimate all-in-one mounting solution, specifically engineered to house your radar, lights, cameras, and antennas in a single, streamlined installation.

Designed specifically for Raymarine, Garmin, and Navico (Simrad/Lowrance/B&G) 18" and 24" radomes, this mast doesn't just hold your gear—it ensures every component is perfectly situated for maximum signal range and operational performance. Crafted from marine-grade aluminium and finished with Scanstrut’s unique 4-step marine paint system, it is built to withstand the harshest British coastal conditions while maintaining a sleek, professional look on your vessel.

Whether you are upgrading your current motorboat or outfitting a new build, the PTM-R1-1 provides a clean, "no-clutter" aesthetic by hiding all cabling internally.

Scanstrut PTM-R1-1 tapered radar mast for Raymarine / Garmin / Navico FAQs

Which radar units will actually fit the PTM-R1-1?

This specific model (the R1-1) is pre-drilled and tailored specifically for the most popular 18" and 24" radomes from Raymarine, Garmin, and Navico (including Lowrance, Simrad, and B&G BR24/3G/4G). If you have a different brand or a much older legacy unit, give us a ring at the shop—you might need the PTM-R1-2 instead, which has a different mounting plate.

What else can I mount on this mast besides the radar?

The beauty of the tapered mast is its versatility. It features:

  • Undrilled Top Plate: Perfect for mounting an all-round white light or a searchlight.
  • Port & Starboard Wings: Pre-fitted with four 1" x 14 TPI threaded attachments, allowing you to install up to four GPS or VHF antennas.
  • Camera Support: It is also compatible with thermal cameras like the FLIR M100/M200 series (though a small riser kit may be required for some camera models).
  • How do I manage all the cables for that many devices?
Nobody wants a "birds nest" of wires on their roof! The PTM-R1-1 is designed with a hollow stem and hollow wings, allowing you to route all your cabling internally. This keeps the wires protected from the elements and gives your boat a clean, professional finish.

Will I need to use messy marine sealant during installation?

Actually, no. Scanstrut has designed this with a base seal included, so there’s no need for messy silicone. For the cable entries, we recommend using a Scanstrut DS30 Cable Seal (available here in our shop) to ensure the pass-through into your cabin remains completely watertight.

What is the mast made of? Will it corrode in salt water?

It’s built for the North Sea! The mast is constructed from marine-grade 6082 aluminium and finished with Scanstrut’s unique 4-step marine paint system. It’s highly resistant to corrosion and UV damage, so it’ll stay looking sharp for years.

Is the footprint very large? I have limited space on my wheelhouse.

Not at all. Despite being able to hold a radar, four antennas, and a light, it has a surprisingly small base footprint (roughly 291mm x 291mm). It’s designed to fit the same space as a standard Dual Power Tower.

Does it come with the electronics included?

Please note that the price is for the marine-grade mount only. Any radar domes, antennas, lights, or cameras shown in manufacturers' photos are sold separately. However, as authorised dealers for Garmin and Raymarine, we can certainly help you bundle those in!

How is it delivered?

Because the "wings" are removable, the PTM-R1-1 ships in a much more compact box than you’d expect. This helps us keep the shipping costs down for you and ensures the unit arrives safely without the risk of the arms being bent in transit.
