SBS R4/2600EL Boat Trailer FAQs
- Loading Procedure: Always recover the craft onto the trailer using the trailer winch; never drive the boat onto the trailer, as this can cause serious hull damage.
- Weight Calculation: When determining the correct weight, use the boat's "wet" weight (fully laden with fuel, engines, and all equipment), not the manufacturer's often-published "dry" weight, to avoid an illegal and unsafe load.
- Bearing Maintenance: Although the sealed bearings are low-maintenance, if you submerge the trailer in salt water frequently, annual servicing of the bearings is a minimum recommendation. A hub flush kit is included as a standard feature to help with this.
- General Maintenance: Regular maintenance is vital, especially when operating in a harsh salt water environment. Spray vulnerable zinc-coated parts (winch gear, U-bolt threads, etc.) with a product like Prolan aerosol for added protection.
- Tire Pressure: Boat trailer tires typically require high air pressure, usually between 50 and 65 pounds per square inch (psi), or the highest allowable pressure indicated on the tire's sidewall.
- Legal Requirements: In the UK, it is a legal requirement to have the wheels covered by mudguards while towing on the road. The R4/2600EL includes a removable 12V rear light board on extendable arms and forward-facing LED marker lights.
