SBS R2/1300EL Boat Trailer FAQs

  • What is the maximum weight capacity? The trailer has a gross capacity of 1300kg (total weight of trailer plus boat/gear) and a maximum load capacity of 950kg (or 990kg depending on the exact model year).
  • What length boat can it handle? It is designed for boats up to 4.6 meters in length, measured from bow eye to transom (BET).
  • What are the dimensions? The trailer is approximately 5900mm long and 2300mm wide.
  • Is it braked? Yes, the SBS R2/1300EL  is a fully braked single-axle trailer with a 50mm ball coupling and a breakaway cable.
  • What type of lights does it use? It features forward-facing LED marker lights and a removable rear light board with a 13-pin plug connection.
  • How do I load the boat correctly?
  • Attach the winch strap only to the external bow eye on the hull.
  • Ensure the ratchet lever is in the up position and producing a clicking noise to securely hold the load.
  • Do not drive the boat onto the trailer, as this can cause serious hull damage.
  • What is the correct tire pressure? Boat trailer tires generally require a high amount of air pressure, typically between 50 and 65 PSI. The exact highest allowable pressure should be printed on the tire's sidewall.
  • How often should I service the bearings? Bearings should be repacked annually or every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. Submerging a hot hub into cold water can pull water into the bearings, so regular maintenance is crucial, especially after use in salt water. The Al-Ko axle on this trailer uses oversized sealed bearings for extended life.
  • How can I prevent corrosion? The chassis is fully hot-dip galvanized for excellent corrosion resistance. However, vulnerable areas like winch gears, U-bolt threads, and certain bolts that have only a zinc coating should be sprayed with a protective product like Prolan aerosol after use, especially in saltwater environments.
  • How do I adjust the rollers? The trailer comes with a total of 24 non-marking wobble rollers. Every roller should touch the hull, and the internal rollers should be as close to the keel as possible. The winch post and roller pods are adjustable to ensure proper support and towing characteristics.
