Raymarine RVM-400 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Through Hull Transducer 0°

Raymarine RVM-400 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Through Hull Transducer 0° are specifically engineered for the latest generation of Axiom 2 Pro RVM chartplotters and the RVM1600 sonar module, this all-in-one transducer represents the pinnacle of underwater imaging technology. Whether you are navigating a deep-sea passage or hunting for specific structures, the RVM-400 delivers a lifelike 3D view of the world beneath your hull with unparalleled clarity.

The RVM-400 is a rugged, stainless steel through-hull transducer designed for inboard and outboard powerboats. Built to withstand the harshest marine environments, its low-profile design ensures it slips through the water without causing drag or cavitation, making it an ideal choice for high-performance vessels and even trailered boats.

Raymarine RVM-400 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Through Hull Transducer 0° Key Features

  • RealVision MAX 3D Technology: Delivers high-definition 3D imagery of fish, structure, and the seabed, allowing you to easily identify your surroundings in a three-dimensional space.
  • Four-Channel Versatility: Includes 600W High CHIRP, DownVision™, SideVision™, and RealVision MAX 3D sonar for a comprehensive view of the water column.
  • 600-Watt Traditional CHIRP: Features a significantly larger ceramic element for deeper penetration (up to 365m / 1,200ft) and superior target separation.
  • Integrated AHRS Stabilisation: A built-in Attitude and Heading Reference System automatically compensates for vessel motion—such as waves and swells—ensuring your 3D sonar imagery remains stable and accurate.
  • Rugged Stainless Steel Construction: Suitable for use on fibreglass, wood, or metal hulls, providing long-term durability and resistance to the elements.
  • Direct Connect Compatibility: Designed specifically for a seamless connection to Axiom 2 Pro RVM displays and RVM1600 sonar modules using the included 8-metre cable.
  • Fast-Response Temperature Sensor: Provides quick and highly accurate water temperature readings directly to your display.
  • Easy Installation: The near-flush design requires no fairing block, simplifying the installation process while maintaining a clean, hydrodynamic profile.

Raymarine RVM-400 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Through Hull Transducer 0° FAQs

Is the RVM-400 the right choice for my boat's hull?

The RVM-400 is a 0° offset transducer, meaning it is designed for boats with a flat bottom or a very shallow deadrise of less than 5°. Because it is a stainless steel through-hull fitting, it is suitable for use on fibreglass (GRP), steel, aluminium, and wood hulls.

Tip from Morgan Marine: If your hull has a steeper deadrise (between 5° and 25°), you will need the RVM-412 or RVM-420 "split-pair" kits instead. If you aren't sure about your hull angle, give us a call at the yard and we can help you figure it out.

Which displays are compatible with this transducer?

The RVM-400 features a 25-pin connector designed for direct connection (no adapter required) to:

    • Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro RVM chartplotters.
    • Raymarine RVM1600 High-Performance Sonar Modules.
It is the perfect partner for the latest RealVision MAX technology, delivering significantly better range and clarity than previous generations.

What sonar technologies are included in this one unit?

The RVM-400 is an "all-in-one" powerhouse. In a single through-hull fitting, you get:

    • RealVision MAX 3D: Life-like 3D renderings of the seabed and structure.
    • SideVision™: High-definition scanning to the port and starboard.
    • DownVision™: Photo-like imagery of what is directly beneath the boat.
    • High CHIRP (600W): Traditional conical sonar for clear fish targeting and depth tracking.

How does it handle rougher seas and boat movement?

One of the standout features of the RVM-400 is its built-in AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System). This internal sensor automatically compensates for the pitch, roll, and heave of your vessel. Even in swells or while turning, your 3D sonar imagery remains stable and easy to interpret.

What is the maximum depth I can expect?

Performance varies by water conditions, but the RealVision MAX technology offers impressive ranges:

    • Traditional CHIRP: Up to 365m (1,200ft)
    • DownVision: Up to 182m (600ft)
    • SideVision & 3D: Up to 91m (300ft)

Does it include water temperature readings?

Yes. The RVM-400 has a built-in, fast-response water temperature sensor, giving you accurate, real-time data on the surface temperature—a vital tool for many of our fishing customers.

How long is the supplied cable?

This unit comes with a heavy-duty 8-metre (approx. 26ft) cable. For larger vessels or complex cable runs, extension cables are available separately to ensure you reach your helm or sonar module.

Will this transducer slow my boat down?

Raymarine has designed the RVM-400 with a rugged, low-profile stainless steel body. It includes a high-speed nose cone that ensures smooth water flow, minimising drag and preventing the cavitation that can sometimes interfere with sonar readings at higher speeds.

What is included in the box?

When you purchase the RVM-400 from Morgan Marine, you’ll receive everything needed for a standard installation:

    • Stainless steel transducer with 8m cable.
    • High-speed nose cone and isolation plate.
    • Locking collar kit (O-rings and split rings).
    • Hull nut and anti-rotation studs.
    • Full installation documentation.

Can I install this myself?

While many experienced boat owners do their own installs, a through-hull fitting requires precision drilling and careful sealing to ensure the integrity of your hull. As a full-service boatyard, Morgan Marine offers professional installation and rigging services in Brightlingsea—contact our workshop team for a quote if you'd like us to handle the fit-out for you.
