Raymarine RV-400 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Through Hull Transducer 0°, Direct connect to AXIOM (8m cable)
Raymarine RV-400 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Through Hull Transducer 0°, Direct connect to AXIOM (8m cable) are an all-in-one, 4-channel CHIRP transducer designed to bring the lifelike clarity of RealVision 3D™ directly to your Axiom display. Housed in rugged stainless steel, this 0° offset model is the perfect choice for inboard or outboard powerboats with flat-bottomed hulls.
At Morgan Marine, we know that successful days on the water start with having the best tech beneath your hull. The RV-400 is a game-changer for Essex coastal waters and beyond, allowing you to identify structure and locate fish with incredible 3D detail. Unlike standard transducers, the RV-400 features a built-in Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS), which stabilises your sonar imagery by automatically compensating for the vessel's motion. Whether you’re dealing with the chop of the Blackwater or rolling swells offshore, you’ll enjoy a crystal-clear, steady picture.
This low-profile stainless steel housing is engineered for durability and performance. It slips through the water with minimal drag and no cavitation, making it an excellent fit for trailered boats. With no fairing block to cut, installation is straightforward, getting you back on the water faster.
Raymarine RV-400 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Through Hull Transducer 0°, Direct connect to AXIOM (8m cable) Key Features
- All-In-One Sonar: Combines four distinct channels into one housing—RealVision 3D™, High-Frequency CHIRP, DownVision™, and SideVision™.
- RealVision 3D™ Technology: Easily identify underwater structures and find fish with life-like clarity, giving you a 360-degree view of the world beneath your boat.
- AHRS Stabilisation: The built-in gyro-stabilisation filters out the effects of waves and vessel movement, ensuring your 3D imagery remains steady and easy to interpret.
- Rugged Stainless Steel Build: Designed specifically for through-hull installation in fibreglass, wood, or metal hulls. The high-grade stainless steel provides superior longevity in harsh marine environments.
- 0° Offset Design: Optimized for boats with a hull deadrise between 0° and 5°, ensuring the sonar beams are aimed straight down for maximum accuracy.
- Fast-Response Temperature Sensor: Includes an integrated sensor for quick and highly accurate water temperature readings.
- Axiom Direct Connect: Features a 25-pin connector that plugs directly into any Raymarine Axiom RealVision-enabled multifunction display.
- Simple Installation: The near-flush, low-profile design requires no fairing block, reducing drag and simplifying the fitting process.

Morgan Marine Advice: The RV-400 is the ideal choice for flat-bottomed hulls. If your vessel has a significant deadrise (angle), please contact our team to discuss the 12° or 20° tilted element versions to ensure you get the best possible sonar performance for your specific boat.
Raymarine RV-400 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Through Hull Transducer 0°, Direct connect to AXIOM (8m cable) FAQs
Will this transducer fit my boat’s hull?
The RV-400 is specifically designed for boats with a flat bottom or a very shallow deadrise (the angle of the hull) between 0° and 5°. Because it is constructed from high-grade stainless steel, it is suitable for GRP (fibreglass), wood, and metal hulls (including steel and aluminium).
Top Tip: If your hull has a steeper angle, you’ll likely need the RV-412 (12°) or RV-420 (20°) versions instead. Give us a ring if you're unsure how to measure your deadrise!
What exactly is "RealVision 3D"?
It’s a bit of a game-changer. Unlike traditional sonar that just shows you "blobs" on a flat screen, RealVision 3D allows you to see the underwater world in three dimensions. You can see the exact position of structures, channel edges, and fish relative to your boat. The RV-400 is an "all-in-one" unit, meaning it packs four sonar channels into one housing:
-
- CHIRP Sonar: For traditional fish targeting.
- DownVision™: For photo-like imagery of the bottom.
- SideVision™: For scanning out to the port and starboard.
- RealVision 3D™: For that life-like 3D model of the seabed.
Does it work well in choppy British waters?
Yes, brilliantly. One of the best features of the RV-400 is its built-in AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System). This internal sensor automatically compensates for the movement of your boat—pitch, roll, and heave. This means even if you’re out in a swell or making a sharp turn, your sonar imagery remains stable and clear on the screen.
What is the maximum depth I can expect?
Performance always depends on water conditions and salinity, but you can generally expect:
-
- Traditional CHIRP: Up to 274m (900ft)
- DownVision: Up to 183m (600ft)
- SideVision & RealVision 3D: Up to 91m (300ft)
Is it difficult to install?
The RV-400 is a "near-flush" low-profile design. This is a huge advantage because it creates very little drag and doesn't require a fairing block to be cut or fitted. This makes it a great choice for trailered boats too. Every unit we sell comes with a full installation kit, including an anti-rotation bolt and isolation sleeves to prevent galvanic corrosion on metal hulls.
Can I connect this directly to my Axiom display?
Absolutely. This model comes with an 8-metre (approx. 26ft) cable that connects directly to the 25-pin RealVision port on your Raymarine Axiom, Axiom+, or Axiom Pro display. If you have a larger vessel and need a longer run, we also stock extension cables in 3m, 5m, and 8m lengths.
Does it provide water temperature?
Yes, it features a built-in, fast-response water temperature sensor. This gives you accurate, real-time surface temperature readings—ideal for finding those temperature breaks where the fish like to hide.
Will the stainless steel cause corrosion on my aluminium hull?
Raymarine has thought of this! The RV-400 comes with a Transducer Isolation Kit. This includes internal and external isolator sleeves that ensure there is no direct contact between the stainless steel body and your hull, effectively eliminating the risk of galvanic corrosion.
