Raymarine Pack of RVM-420 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Thru Hull Txds, Port & Starboard 20°
Raymarine Pack of RVM-420 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Thru Hull Txds, Port & Starboard 20° are a rugged, stainless steel thru-hull transducer system designed to bring the exceptional power of RealVision MAX technology to both inboard and outboard powerboats. This comprehensive pack includes a matched pair of port and starboard transducers, specifically engineered for vessels with a hull deadrise between 15° and 25°.
By using a split pair, the RVM-420 overcomes the common "keel shade" issue. One transducer handles the port side and downwards, while the other covers the starboard side and downwards, ensuring a seamless, 180° panoramic view of the world beneath your hull—even on boats with deep keels or complex underwater profiles.
Unlike traditional transducers that require bulky fairing blocks, the RVM-420 features a low-profile, "tilted element" design. The sonar ceramics are internally offset at a 20° angle to compensate for your hull's deadrise. This results in a flush, hydrodynamic fit that reduces drag, eliminates cavitation, and allows for excellent performance even at high speeds or on trailered boats.
Raymarine Pack of RVM-420 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Thru Hull Txds, Port & Starboard 20° Key Features
- RealVision MAX 3D Technology: Delivers superior range, higher resolution, and sharper fish targets. Experience life-like 3D imagery that makes identifying structure and locating fish easier than ever.
-
4-Channel All-In-One Sonar: A single installation provides access to:
- High-Frequency CHIRP: For traditional, crystal-clear fish targeting.
- DownVision™: Photo-like imagery of the bottom structure.
- SideVision™: Wide-angle scanning to the port and starboard.
- RealVision MAX 3D: Dynamic, three-dimensional underwater rendering.
- Built-in AHRS Stabilisation: Features an integrated Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) that automatically compensates for vessel motion (waves, pitch, and roll), ensuring your 3D sonar images remain stable and easy to interpret.
- Fast-Response Temperature Sensor: Provides quick and accurate water temperature readings, essential for finding the "edges" where fish like to feed.
- Rugged Stainless Steel Construction: Built to withstand the harshest marine environments. These transducers are suitable for GRP (fibreglass), wood, and metal hulls.
- Complete Installation Kit: The pack comes ready for setup with a port transducer, starboard transducer, a 2-metre Y-cable, and an 8-metre extension cable (10 metres total length).
Compatibility:
The RVM-420 is designed for direct connection to the Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro RVM series multifunction displays or the RVM1600 remote sonar module.

Raymarine Pack of RVM-420 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Thru Hull Txds, Port & Starboard 20° FAQs
What is included in the RVM-420 pack?
This is a complete "Port and Starboard" kit. It includes two stainless steel transducers (one for the port side and one for the starboard), a Y-cable to join them together, and an 8-metre extension cable. In total, this gives you a 10-metre cable run to your display or sonar module.
Why do I need two transducers instead of one?
On boats with a significant "V" shape (deadrise), a single thru-hull transducer can have its view "blocked" by the keel when looking to the opposite side. By installing one on each side of the keel, you ensure a full 180° unobstructed view of the underwater world, which is essential for SideVision and RealVision 3D to work correctly.
What does the "20°" refer to?
This refers to the internal "tilt" of the sonar elements. The RVM-420 is designed specifically for hulls with a deadrise angle between 15° and 25°. Because the elements are tilted 20° inside the housing, they point straight down to the seabed even when mounted on your sloped hull. This eliminates the need for bulky fairing blocks, resulting in a cleaner, low-drag installation.
Is stainless steel the right material for my hull?
Stainless steel is the most versatile housing material. It is highly recommended for metal hulls (aluminium or steel) because it prevents the galvanic corrosion that occurs with bronze transducers. It is also perfectly suitable for GRP (fibreglass) and wooden hulls.
What sonar technologies will I get with this pack?
The RVM-420 is a "4-channel" system, giving you four distinct views on your Axiom screen:
-
- RealVision MAX 3D: An ultra-realistic, stabilised 3D view of the bottom and fish.
- SideVision: High-definition imaging of what is to the left and right of the boat (up to 183m/600ft).
- DownVision: Photo-like detail of structure directly beneath the boat.
- High CHIRP: Traditional 600W sonar for clear fish-arch detection.
Will the 3D image be "jumpy" in rougher seas?
No. These transducers feature a built-in AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System). This is an internal gyro-stabiliser that compensates for the pitch, roll, and heave of your boat. It keeps the 3D sonar image steady and accurate on your screen, even when the boat is moving in a swell.
Which Raymarine displays are compatible?
The RVM (RealVision MAX) series is designed for direct connection to the Axiom 2 Pro RVM chartplotters. It can also be used with the RVM1600 remote sonar module. If you have older Axiom "RV" units, please contact us at the shop so we can confirm the best adapter or upgrade path for your specific setup.
Does it measure water temperature?
Yes, each transducer has a built-in, fast-response water temperature sensor to give you accurate, real-time readings on your display.
Can I install this while the boat is in the water?
No. As these are thru-hull transducers, they require holes to be drilled in the hull. This must be done while the boat is hauled out. We always recommend professional installation to ensure a watertight seal and correct alignment of the port/starboard elements.
Expert Tip from Morgan Marine: If your hull has a flatter bottom (less than 5° deadrise), you should look at the RVM-400 single transducer. If your deadrise is between 5° and 15°, the RVM-412 pack is the correct choice. Not sure of your deadrise? Give us a call at the office, and we can help you calculate it!
