Raymarine Pack of RV-420 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Thru Hull Txds,

Raymarine Pack of RV-420 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Thru Hull Txds, are the ultimate in sonar clarity and detail, specifically designed for vessels with a deadrise angle between 14° and 26°.

Designed for both inboard and outboard powerboats, the RV-420 system allows you to identify underwater structures and locate fish with the life-like clarity of Raymarine’s RealVision 3D™ sonar. This pack features a "split-pair" design, including a port and a starboard transducer. This configuration ensures a full 180° of underwater coverage, completely eliminating the "shadowing" effect caused by deep keels or other hull obstructions.

Crafted from rugged stainless steel, these transducers are built to last and are suitable for use on GRP, wood, or metal hulls. The low-profile, near-flush design moves effortlessly through the water without causing significant drag or cavitation, making it an excellent choice even for trailered boats

Raymarine Pack of RV-420 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Thru Hull Txds,  Key Features

  • All-in-One Sonar Technology: Combines four distinct channels into one system—RealVision 3D™, DownVision™, SideVision™, and High-Frequency CHIRP fish targeting.
  • Gyroscopic Stabilisation: Features a built-in Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) that stabilises the sonar imagery by automatically compensating for vessel motion. You’ll receive crystal-clear images even in swells, waves, and during tight manoeuvres.
  • Direct Axiom Connectivity: Specifically designed for a direct "plug-and-play" connection to Raymarine Axiom multifunction displays.
  • No Fairing Blocks Required: Each transducer features an internal 20° offset to accommodate your hull’s deadrise, allowing for a sleek, flush installation that reduces drag.
  • Precision Sensors: Includes a fast-response water temperature sensor for quick and accurate readings of the sea temperature.
  • Rugged Construction: Durable stainless steel housing designed to withstand the harsh marine environment, suitable for all hull materials including steel and aluminium.

What’s in the Box?

This comprehensive pack from Morgan Marine includes everything you need for a professional installation:

  • RV-420P Port Transducer (with 2m pigtail cable)
  • RV-420S Starboard Transducer (with 2m pigtail cable)
  • RealVision 3D Y-Cable
  • 8-metre Extension Cable (Total combined cable length of 10 metres)
  • Anti-rotation bolt kit and all necessary mounting hardware
  • Installation instructions

Technical Specifications

    • Material: Stainless Steel
    • Supported Deadrise: 14° to 26° (20° internal tilt)
    • Sonar Channels: 3D, Down, Side, and Conical CHIRP
    • Max Depth: 3D: 91m (300ft) | DownVision: 183m (600ft) | Conical CHIRP: 274m (900ft)
    • Compatible Displays: Raymarine Axiom, Axiom+, and Axiom Pro series.

Morgan Marine Expert Tip: Ensure you measure your hull's deadrise before purchase. The RV-420 is optimised for 20° angles (effective from 14°-26°). If your hull is flatter, you may require the RV-400 (0°) or RV-412 (12°) variants. If you're unsure, please contact our team for advice!

Raymarine Pack of RV-420 RealVision 3D Stainless Steel Thru Hull Txds, FAQs

Why do I need two transducers instead of just one?

On boats with a deep V-hull, a single centre-mounted transducer can have its "view" blocked by the keel when looking to the sides. By using a port and starboard pair, one transducer looks out to the left and down, while the other looks to the right and down. This ensures a full 180° of sonar coverage with no "shadows" cast by your boat's hull or running gear.

Is my hull deadrise compatible with the 20° model?

The RV-420 is specifically engineered for hulls with a deadrise angle between 14° and 26°. Because the ceramic elements inside the housing are already tilted at 20°, the sonar beams point straight down to the seabed without the need for bulky timber or plastic fairing blocks.

Note: If your deadrise is between 6° and 18°, you should look at the RV-412 model instead.

What hull materials is the stainless steel version suitable for?

The stainless steel housings are incredibly robust and versatile. They are recommended for:

    • Fibreglass (GRP)
    • Wood
    • Metal (Steel or Aluminium) hulls. The stainless steel construction is particularly important for metal hulls to prevent the galvanic corrosion issues sometimes associated with bronze fittings.

Which Raymarine displays can I plug this directly into?

This pack is designed for a "Direct Connect" to any Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom Pro, or Axiom 2 Pro multifunction display that has a built-in RealVision 3D sonar port (the 25-pin socket). No external sonar module is required, making for a very tidy installation.

What type of sonar views will I get with this setup?

The RV-420 is a 4-channel Wide Spectrum CHIRP system. You will get four distinct views on your screen:

    • RealVision 3D™: A life-like 3D model of the underwater world.
    • DownVision™: High-definition, photo-like imagery of structure beneath the boat.
    • SideVision™: High-definition imagery of fish and structure up to 300ft to the port and starboard.
    • High-Frequency CHIRP: Traditional sonar for clear fish targeting and bottom tracking.

Does this transducer provide water temperature and depth?

Yes. Both depth and a fast-response water temperature sensor are built-in, providing accurate live readings directly to your Axiom display.

How does the "AHRS" feature help me?

The RV-420 features a built-in Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). This is a solid-state gyro sensor that stabilises the sonar imagery by automatically compensating for the boat's motion. Even in choppy seas or during tight manoeuvres, your 3D images remain stable and easy to interpret.

Can I install this on a boat that is kept on a trailer?

Absolutely. The RV-420 features an ultra-low-profile design. It sits nearly flush against the hull, which reduces drag and, crucially, means it won't be damaged by trailer rollers or bunks during launching and recovery.

Do I need to apply anti-fouling to the transducers?

If your boat is kept in the water, we highly recommend applying a thin coat of water-based anti-fouling paint (specifically designed for transducers, such as MDR Transducer Paint or Airmar Foulfree). Never use copper-based "bottom paint" as this can damage the transducer and interfere with the signal.
