Raymarine M265LM D In Hull Low-Medium Transducer
Raymarine M265LM D In Hull Low-Medium Transducer is a professional-grade solution that delivers exceptional clarity and depth.
This 1kW powerhouse utilizes Airmar’s broadband ceramic technology, allowing you to "CHIRP" across a wide range of frequencies. By covering both Low and Medium bands, you get the best of both worlds: the deep-water reach of low frequency combined with the crisp target separation of the medium band. Whether you are scouting deep offshore canyons or identifying fish holding tight to bottom structure, this transducer provides the high-fidelity detail needed to make every trip a success.
The "In-Hull" design is a particular favourite for our customers with trailered boats or those who prefer a clean hull profile. Because it is mounted inside a fluid-filled tank bonded to the inner hull, there is no drag, no risk of damage from floating debris, and—most importantly—no holes to drill below the waterline.
Raymarine M265LM D In Hull Low-Medium Transducer Key Features
- 1kW High-Performance Power: Designed for mid-to-deep water performance, reaching depths of up to 914m (3,000ft) on the low-frequency band.
-
Dual-Band CHIRP: *
- Low Frequency (42-65 kHz): Ideal for deep-water sounding and broad coverage under the boat.
- Medium Frequency (85-135 kHz):
- Provides excellent target separation and identifies fish suspended close to the seabed or structure.
- No-Drill Installation: Perfect for solid fiberglass hulls. The included mounting tank is easily cut to match your boat's deadrise (up to 30°) for a vertical beam orientation.
- Superior Target Resolution: Distinguish between baitfish and game fish with crisp, high-resolution imagery on your Raymarine
- MFD.Compatibility: Specifically designed for use with Raymarine CHIRP sonar modules, including the CP450C, CP470, and CP570, as well as Axiom Pro displays.
- Built for Durability: Constructed with a high-strength plastic housing and a seamless urethane acoustic window for long-term reliability in the marine environment.

Expert Tip from the Boatyard: This transducer is only suitable for solid fiberglass hulls. It will not work through cored hulls or metal. If you are unsure about your hull construction or need advice on the best mounting location in your engine room, give our team a call—we've been fitting these systems at our Brightlingsea yard since 1972 and are happy to help.
Raymarine M265LM D In Hull Low-Medium Transducer FAQs
What makes the M265LM different from other transducers?
The "LM" stands for Low and Medium frequency. While many transducers offer High frequency for shallow water, the M265LM is a specialist tool for mid-to-deep water. It features 8 internal ceramics that provide a huge 73 kHz of total bandwidth. This allows you to target specific fish species in the water column and see incredible detail on the seabed that standard transducers simply miss.
Why should I choose an "In-Hull" mount?
The M265LM is an "in-hull" (tank-mounted) transducer. The primary advantage is that no holes are drilled through your hull. This means:
-
- No risk of leaks from the transducer mounting.
- No drag or turbulence affecting your boat’s performance.
- The transducer is protected from marine growth and impact.
- It is the perfect choice for trailered or lifted boats.
Will it work with my boat's hull material?
This is a crucial point: the M265LM is designed for solid fiberglass hulls only.
Because the signal must "shoot through" the hull, it will not work on boats with cored hulls (e.g., balsa or foam sandwich), wood, steel, or aluminium. If you aren't sure about your hull construction, please do get in touch with us at the shop.
What depths can I expect to reach?
As a 1kW powerhouse, the M265LM offers exceptional depth performance:
-
- Low Frequency (42-65 kHz): Can reach depths of up to 914m (3,000ft). This is ideal for deep-water scouting.
- Medium Frequency (85-135 kHz): Reaches up to 457m (1,500ft). This frequency is the "sweet spot" for identifying targets suspended close to the bottom and structure.
How do I install it if my hull is angled (deadrise)?
The M265LM comes with its own mounting tank. During installation, the tank is cut to match your boat’s deadrise angle (it can accommodate angles up to 30°). The tank is then bonded to the inside of the hull and filled with non-toxic antifreeze (propylene glycol), ensuring the transducer face is perfectly level and the signal transmits clearly through the fiberglass.
Which Raymarine units are compatible with the M265LM?
The M265LM (part number A80038) is fitted with an 11-pin CHIRP connector. It is designed to plug directly into:
-
- Axiom Pro RVX and Axiom 2 Pro RVM
- CP470 and CP570 Sonar Modules
- RVX-1000 and RVM-1600 modules
- Legacy CHIRP sonar modules like the CP450C
Does it measure water temperature?
Because the transducer is mounted inside the hull, it does not provide an accurate sea surface temperature reading. It is a Depth-only transducer. If you require water temperature, we recommend installing a separate small ST800 or similar NMEA sensor.
Can I use it while the boat is at high speed?
Yes! Because the transducer is mounted inside the hull, it is not affected by the "aerated" water or bubbles that often cause transom-mounted transducers to lose their bottom lock at higher speeds. As long as it is mounted in a location with "clean" water flow under the hull, it performs brilliantly at speed.
