Raymarine i70s, Wireless Vertical Wind, DST810, heading sensor

Raymarine i70s, Wireless Vertical Wind, DST810, heading sensors are a comprehensive "system-in-a-box" designed specifically for the demanding sailor. This high-performance package brings together Raymarine’s most advanced instrument technology with wireless convenience, ensuring you have a complete picture of your vessel’s performance from the moment you leave the marina.

The Ultimate Sailing System

At the heart of this kit is the i70s Multifunction Instrument, featuring a stunning, optically bonded display that remains crystal clear even in direct British sunlight. Paired with the Vertical Wireless Wind Transducer, this system eliminates the need for running wires down the mast while providing professional-grade wind data. The vertical offset of the transducer is a game-changer for performance, lifting the sensor above the turbulent air created by your mainsail to give you the "cleanest" wind readings possible.

Further enhancing your data is the DST810 Smart Transducer, which provides depth, speed, and water temperature. It also features an integrated attitude sensor to measure heel and trim—data that is refined by the included EV-1 Evolution Heading Sensor to provide incredibly stable and accurate wind and heading values, even when the boat is pitching and rolling in a heavy sea.

Raymarine i70s, Wireless Vertical Wind, DST810, heading sensor Key Features

  • Premium i70s Display: A 4.1-inch super-bright, oversized LCD with 160-degree viewing angles. The optically bonded glass prevents fogging and enhances contrast for readability in all weathers.
  • Vertical Wireless Wind Technology: Includes the T222 Wireless Vertical Masthead Transducer. By positioning the sensors higher and away from the masthead's updraught, you receive ultra-accurate wind speed and direction without the hassle of mast cables.
  • Smart Sensing with DST810: The Gen2 DST810 through-hull transducer offers depth, speed, and temperature. With its built-in Bluetooth connectivity, you can calibrate your speed-through-water directly via the Airmar CAST™ app on your smartphone.
  • Evolution Heading Sensor (EV-1): This award-winning 9-axis sensor monitors vessel motion in three dimensions. It automatically compensates for heel, pitch, and roll, providing a rock-steady heading source for your instruments and autopilot.
  • Micro-Talk™ Wireless Gateway: The bridge between your wireless wind sensor and the wired SeaTalkng network, allowing for seamless data sharing across your entire Raymarine system.
  • Complete Backbone Kit: No need to hunt for extra connectors; this kit includes a full SeaTalkng backbone (5-way connector, terminators, T-pieces, power cable, and 5m backbone cable) to get your network up and running immediately.
  • LightHouse User Interface: Consistent with Raymarine’s Axiom MFDs, the intuitive interface makes it easy to customise your data pages with digital, analogue, and graphical displays.
  • AIS Repeater: When networked with an AIS receiver, the i70s can visually track the closest 25 AIS-equipped vessels, enhancing your situational awareness in busy shipping lanes.

What’s in the Box?

    • i70s Multifunction Colour Instrument
    • T222 Wireless Vertical Masthead Transducer
    • Micro-Talk™ Wireless Performance Sailing Gateway
    • DST810 Smart Hull Transducer (Depth, Speed, Temperature)
    • EV-1 Evolution Heading Sensor
    • SeaTalkng Backbone Kit (Power cable, 5m backbone cable, 5-way connector, 2x Terminators, T-piece)

Morgan Marine Expert Tip:

"For the racing sailor or the serious cruiser, the vertical wind transducer is the standout component here. By getting that sensor into clean air, your True Wind Speed and Angle calculations become far more reliable, which is essential for accurate laylines and performance monitoring."

Raymarine i70s, Wireless Vertical Wind, DST810, heading sensor FAQs

What are the benefits of the ‘Vertical’ wind transducer over a standard one?

The Vertical Wind Transducer is all about "clean air." By elevating the sensors nearly 1.5 metres above the masthead, the unit sits well above the turbulent air (upwash) created by your mainsail. This results in much more stable and accurate True Wind Speed (TWS) and True Wind Angle (TWA) readings—essential for competitive racing or efficient blue-water cruising.

Is it truly wireless? Does it need a power cable down the mast?

It is completely wireless. The masthead unit is solar-powered and features an internal battery that keeps it running day and night. This means no wires need to be run down your mast, which is a massive win for both weight-saving aloft and ease of installation.

How does the wireless signal get to my wired i70s display?

The kit includes a Micro-Talk™ Wireless Gateway. This clever "bridge" plugs into your SeaTalkng backbone (the wired part of your system) and listens for the wireless signal from the masthead. It then converts that data into a format your i70s display and other networked devices (like an Axiom MFD or Autopilot) can understand instantly.

What makes the DST810 ‘Smart’?

Unlike older transducers, the DST810 has built-in Bluetooth and an integrated attitude sensor. This allows it to measure not just depth, speed, and temperature, but also the boat's heel and trim. This data is vital for the system to calculate precise wind and speed-through-water values that account for the boat's leaning.

Do I need a computer to calibrate the system?

Not at all. Thanks to the DST810's Bluetooth connectivity, you can perform advanced speed-through-water calibrations directly from your smartphone or tablet using the Airmar CAST™ app. You can even calibrate the sensor while the boat is in the water to compensate for specific hull shapes or off-centre mounting.

What is the role of the EV-1 Heading Sensor in this kit?

The EV-1 is the "brain" of the system’s motion sensing. It is a 9-axis sensor that monitors the boat’s movement in 3D. By knowing exactly how the boat is pitching and rolling, the system can "smooth out" the wind and heading data, ensuring the numbers on your i70s don't jump around erratically when the sea gets choppy.

Can I add more displays to this system later?

Absolutely. Because the kit uses a standard SeaTalkng (NMEA 2000) backbone, you can "daisy-chain" additional i70s displays, p70s autopilot controllers, or Axiom chartplotters whenever you like. The backbone kit included provides the foundation to grow your electronics suite as your needs change.

Will the solar-powered wind sensor work in the UK winter?

Yes. The solar panels are highly efficient and designed to keep the internal battery charged even in the overcast conditions common to British winters. Once fully charged, the unit has enough reserve power to run for many nights without sunlight.

Can the i70s display AIS targets?

Yes! If you have an AIS receiver or transceiver on your SeaTalkng network, the i70s can act as an AIS Repeater. It will show you a list or a basic graphical view of the closest 25 AIS-equipped vessels, helping you keep a safe watch in busy shipping lanes like the Solent or the Channel.

Does this kit include everything I need to get started?

For a standard installation, yes. It includes the display, the wireless wind sensor, the multi-sensor (DST), the heading sensor, the wireless gateway, and a full backbone cabling kit. The only thing you might need is a specific length of SeaTalkng cable if your boat is particularly large, but we stock all lengths here at Morgan Marine to help you finish the job.
