Raymarine i60, Wireless Wind and backbone Kit
Raymarine i60, Wireless Wind and backbone Kit is a game-changer for the modern yachtsman. This comprehensive kit combines the classic, high-visibility i60 Wind Instrument with Raymarine’s cutting-edge Micro-Talk Wireless Gateway.
By choosing the wireless route, you eliminate the need to thread heavy cables through your mast, reducing weight aloft and significantly cutting down on installation time. The solar-powered masthead unit communicates seamlessly with your instrument network, providing real-time wind speed and angle data with the reliability you expect from Raymarine. Whether you are navigating a tricky coastal passage or squeezing every knot of speed out of a racing beat, the i60 gives you the clarity and accuracy you need.
Raymarine i60, Wireless Wind and backbone Kit Key Features
- Effortless Wireless Installation: Say goodbye to mast-wiring. The T120 transducer is solar-powered with an internal battery providing up to 300 hours of run-time, even in total darkness.
- Superior Visibility: Designed for the marine environment, the i60 features an high-contrast LCD and red backlighting for exceptional clarity at night or in direct sunlight.
- Comprehensive Wind Data: Calculates both Apparent and True wind speed and angle (when networked with a speed source), plus VMG, tack angle, and Beaufort scale.
- Seamless Integration: Fully compatible with SeaTalkng, NMEA 2000, and older SeaTalk networks. It sits perfectly alongside Raymarine’s i50, i70s, and Axiom multifunction displays.
- Classic Footprint: Shares the same 110mm x 115mm footprint as the legendary ST60+ series, making it the perfect "drop-in" upgrade for older dashboards.
-
Rugged Reliability: Built to withstand the elements with an IPX6 waterproof rating, ensuring it performs in the harshest North Sea conditions.

Raymarine i60, Wireless Wind and backbone Kit FAQs
How does the wireless masthead unit stay powered?
The T120 transducer is solar-powered with an internal battery. It is designed to be incredibly efficient; even in the UK’s often overcast conditions, it can run for over 300 hours on a full charge in total darkness. The solar panels keep it topped up during the day, so you never have to worry about running cables down the mast.
I’m replacing an old ST60+ unit. Will the i60 fit the same hole?
Yes, exactly. Raymarine specifically designed the i60 series with the same 110mm x 115mm footprint as the legendary ST60+ range. This makes it a "drop-in" replacement, meaning no messy glasswork or dashboard modifications are required.
Can I see "True Wind" data with this kit?
The i60 display is capable of showing both Apparent and True wind speed and angle. However, to calculate True Wind, the system requires "Speed Through Water" data from a networked speed transducer (like an i50 Speed or a Triducer). If your boat already has this data on the SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 network, the i60 will display True Wind automatically.
Is the display easy to read at night?
Absolutely. The i60 features high-contrast LCD numerals and a bright red backlight for night-time visibility. It also supports group dimming, so if you have other Raymarine i-series instruments, you can adjust the brightness for the whole helm at the touch of a single button.
How difficult is the installation?
Because the masthead unit is wireless, the hardest part of a traditional wind-vane install—fishing wires through the mast—is eliminated. You simply mount the T120 at the masthead and the Micro-Talk Gateway below deck. The included Backbone Kit then plugs together to provide power and data to your i60 display. It’s very much a "plug-and-play" system.
Can I connect this to my existing Chartplotter?
Yes. The i60 is fully compatible with SeaTalkng and NMEA 2000. If you have a modern Raymarine Axiom or an older eS-Series MFD, the wind data will share across the network, allowing you to see wind overlays and laylines on your charts.
What is the benefit of the included Wireless Remote?
The handheld remote is a brilliant addition. It’s not just a repeater; it allows you to calibrate the wind system from anywhere on the boat. It’s also solar-powered and waterproof, making it a handy tool for the helm or for crew sitting on the rail.
Is the system waterproof?
The i60 display is rated to IPX6 standards, meaning it is built to withstand heavy seas and powerful jets of water. It is perfectly at home in an exposed cockpit or on a bridge deck.
