Raymarine CP470 Clear Pulse 470 CHIRP

Raymarine CP470 Clear Pulse 470 CHIRP are engineered specifically for those demanding environments. It isn’t just a fishfinder; it’s a high-performance gateway to the deep, providing best-in-class target separation and high-resolution imagery that allows you to distinguish between baitfish and game fish with incredible precision.

The CP470 uses Raymarine’s exclusive wide-spectrum CHIRP technology. By pulsing across a broad range of frequencies and utilising vastly superior sensitivity, this module can peer through dense schools of bait, identify thermoclines, and track the sea floor at staggering depths. Whether you are navigating the steep drop-offs of the continental shelf or hunting over deep-water wrecks, the CP470 delivers the clarity you need to fish with confidence.

Raymarine CP470 Clear Pulse 470 CHIRP Key Features

  • Superior Target Definition: Experience up to 10 times the resolution of traditional sonars. The CP470 filters out unwanted noise to deliver sharper, more defined targets across the entire water column.
  • Dual-Channel CHIRP: Features two independently adjustable CHIRP sonar channels. This allows you to customise your view, targeting different depths or frequency ranges simultaneously.
  • TruZoom™ Magnification: Unlike standard digital zoom, TruZoom™ provides a magnified view of fish targets and bottom structure without any loss of resolution, ensuring you see every detail of the strike zone.
  • Extreme Depth Tracking: When paired with the appropriate transducer, the CP470 is capable of tracking the sea floor down to 3,000m (10,000ft).
  • Intelligent Automation: The module automatically recognises connected Airmar transducers and self-adjusts sonar parameters to ensure peak performance the moment you power up.
  • Built for the Elements: With an IPX6 waterproof rating, the CP470 is designed to withstand the rugged, wet conditions of an offshore boat’s machinery space or console.

Raymarine CP470 Clear Pulse 470 CHIRP FAQs

What makes the CP470 different from a standard "traditional" sonar?

Traditional sonars operate on a single frequency with each pulse. The CP470 uses Raymarine’s exclusive wide-spectrum CHIRP technology. Instead of one frequency, it sweeps across a broad range of frequencies simultaneously. This results in up to 10 times the resolution of ordinary sonars, giving you incredibly sharp target definition and the ability to distinguish individual baitfish within a school.

How deep can the CP470 actually track?

The CP470 is designed for serious offshore use. Depending on the transducer you pair it with, it can track the sea floor down to a staggering 3,000 metres (10,000 feet). This makes it an ideal choice for coastal and deep-sea anglers who need reliable bottom tracking and fish detection in deep canyons.

Does it support dual-channel CHIRP?

Yes, it does. The CP470 features two independent CHIRP channels. This allows you to monitor two different frequency ranges (such as Low and High CHIRP) at the same time on a split-screen display. You can target game fish in the upper water column while simultaneously keeping a sharp eye on the bottom structure.

What is 'TruZoom™' and how does it help me?

TruZoom™ is a standout feature of the CP470. Unlike standard digital zooms that often result in a "pixelated" or blurry image, TruZoom™ provides a magnified view of fish targets and bottom structure without any loss of resolution. It allows you to see the finer details of a target while maintaining the high-definition clarity Raymarine is known for.

Which Raymarine displays are compatible with the CP470?

The CP470 is designed to integrate seamlessly into your existing Raymarine network. It is compatible with:

    • Axiom / Axiom Pro / Axiom XL series
    • aSeries, cSeries, eSeries, and gS Series multifunction displays (MFDs)
    • Systems running LightHouse II, III, or 4 software.

Does the CP470 come with a transducer?

The CP470 is sold as a standalone sonar module. Because every boat and fishing style is different, you will need to select a transducer that matches your hull type and depth requirements. It supports a wide range of Airmar CHIRP transducers, including transom mounts, through-hulls, and in-hulls ranging from 1kW to 2kW.

Tip: If you aren't sure which one you need, give the team here at Morgan Marine a ring and we can advise on the best fit for your boat.

Is it difficult to set up the frequencies for different transducers?

Not at all. The CP470 features automatic transducer identification. When used with compatible Airmar transducers with 'Xducer ID', the module automatically recognises the connected unit and optimises the sonar parameters for the best possible performance.

How "weather-proof" is the module itself?

The CP470 is built to handle the harsh marine environment. It carries an IPX6 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against powerful water jets. While it is usually mounted in a dry locker or behind the console, you can rest assured it is rugged enough for offshore conditions.
