What makes the "Plus" (+) model different from the original Axiom?

The Axiom+ is a performance-tuned upgrade. It features a significantly faster quad-core processor for instantaneous chart redraws, and the new HydroTough™ nano-coated display. This screen is impact-resistant, sheds water like a duck’s back (allowing for touch control even when wet), and is 25% brighter than the previous generation.

Does this unit include a transducer?

The "RV" in the title stands for RealVision 3D. While the unit has the sonar circuitry built-in, the physical transducer is often sold separately to allow you to choose the correct mount for your hull (transom mount, through-hull, etc.).

What exactly is RealVision 3D sonar?

It’s a game-changer for fishing and wreck hunting. Unlike traditional 2D sonar that shows a flat history of what’s passed under the boat, RealVision 3D allows you to see the underwater structure in a true 3D space. You can pan, tilt, and zoom the image to understand exactly where the fish or features are relative to your boat.

Can I use my existing charts with this display?

The Axiom+ 9 RV is compatible with LightHouse Charts, Navionics, and C-MAP. If you have a microSD card from a previous Raymarine unit (MFD), it should plug straight in. If you're unsure about compatibility, just give us a shout with your current card details.

How does it handle in direct UK sunlight?

Brilliantly. The Axiom+ uses an all-weather IPS (In-Plane Switching) display. This means you get wider viewing angles and excellent clarity even if you are wearing polarised sunglasses—a common issue with cheaper screens.

Is it easy to integrate with my other onboard electronics?

Absolutely. It is fully NMEA2000 and SeaTalkng compatible. You can easily network it with your autopilot, AIS, marine radar, and even engine data. It also features built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to connect with the Raymarine mobile apps on your phone or tablet.

Do I need a separate sonar module?

No. This specific model has a built-in 600W Sonar and RealVision 3D processing. As long as you connect a compatible transducer directly to the back of the unit, you are ready to go.
