• What is the recommended maintenance schedule?
  • Every 100 hours or once yearly: Change engine oil and filter, replace fuel filter, drain and replace gearcase lubricant, inspect spark plugs, and check corrosion control anodes.
  • Every 300 hours or three years: Replace the water pump impeller and inspect the thermostat, in addition to the 100-hour service items.
• What type of oil and fuel should I use?
  • Oil: Use NMMA Certified FC-W SAE 10W-30 Mercury FourStroke Oil.
  • Fuel: Unleaded Regular 87 Octane Minimum (R+M/2), 90 RON 10% Ethanol Maximum. Using fresh fuel and a fuel stabilizer is recommended to prevent issues related to ethanol and fuel degradation.
• How should I break in a new engine? For the first two hours, run the motor at varied throttle settings up to 4500 rpm. For the next eight hours, you can run the motor in standard fashion, but avoid running at wide-open throttle for more than five minutes at a time.
