How do I know if I need a Short Shaft or Long Shaft?

This is the most critical measurement for your boat.

• • Short Shaft (15"/381mm): Usually for smaller inflatables, tenders, and many "S"-standard transoms.
  • Long Shaft (20"/508mm): Typically for sailboats, dayboats, or boats with a higher transom.

Pro Tip: Measure from the top of your boat's transom (where the engine sits) to the very bottom of the hull. If it’s around 15 inches, go short; if it’s 20 inches, go long.
