Lewmar V6 Series Deck Unit - Gypsy Drum Key Features

  • Material: The deck unit and drum are made from stainless steel for durability.
  • Clutch: It uses a reliable cone clutch for smooth and controlled operation.
  • Operation: The system allows for both powered and manual chain/rope release.
  • Compatibility: It is designed to be installed with separate Lewmar motor gearboxes (available in 24V or hydraulic power options), circuit breakers, contactors, and switches.
  • Chain Size: While the deck unit is generally compatible with different sizes, the specific gypsy assembly needs to match the exact size and calibration of your anchor chain (e.g., 10mm, 12mm, 14mm) for safe and effective operation.
  • Design: The drum features a W.A.R.P. (Wear and Abrasion Resistant Pattern) design.

Lewmar V6 Series Deck Unit - Gypsy Drum FAQs

  • What size boat is it suitable for? It is designed for boats up to 24 meters (80 feet) in length. For heavy displacement vessels, it is recommended to consider a larger model.

    • What materials is it made of?  The deck unit is constructed from all stainless steel, ensuring strength and corrosion resistance.

      • Is it available in different configurations? Yes, it comes in both left-hand and right-hand versions.

        • What power options are available? The deck unit must be installed with separate 24V electric or hydraulic motor gearboxes.

          • What additional components are needed for installation? The product is a deck unit only. You will also need to purchase a motor gearbox, a specific gypsy (matched to your chain size), circuit breakers, a contactor, and switches.

            • Does the windlass stow the anchor rode (rope/chain) in the locker? No, the windlass is a retrieval device. Gravity stows the rode in the anchor locker. You must ensure there is a clear drop and sufficient space in the locker to prevent the chain from piling up and jamming.

              • What is the recommended minimum deck thickness? Lewmar recommends a minimum deck thickness of 40 mm (1 1/2") for the V6 model

              • How does the clutch work? The V6  features a cone clutch for smooth and easy manual control of the chain release. It allows for both powered and manual chain release
