Honda BF60 HP Outboard Engine

Honda BF60 HP Outboard Engine are a lightweight, compact 4-stroke, 3-cylinder engine known for its fuel efficiency and powerful acceleration, incorporating advanced technologies like PGM-FI electronic fuel injection and BLAST system.

Honda BF60 HP Outboard Engine Key Features

  • BLAST™ (Boosted Low Speed Torque) System: This proprietary technology optimizes the air/fuel ratio and ignition timing during sudden acceleration, providing explosive "hole shot" torque to get the boat on plane faster.
  • PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection): This electronic fuel injection system precisely controls fuel delivery, ensuring ultra-responsive performance, easy starting, and excellent fuel economy.
  • ECOmo (Lean Burn Control): At cruising speeds, this system adjusts the air/fuel mixture to run leaner, significantly improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
  • High-Output Alternator: The engine is equipped with a powerful 22-amp alternator that delivers 17 amps of dedicated battery charging capacity to support a range of onboard electronics.
  • Variable Speed Trolling: An optional feature available on tiller and some remote-control versions allows for fine speed adjustments in 50 rpm increments (between 750 rpm and 1,000 rpm) via a single switch, which is ideal for fishing.
  • NMEA 2000® Compatibility: The BF60 is compatible with NMEA 2000 electronic devices, allowing engine data to be displayed on a wide range of marine electronics.
  • Corrosion Protection: The engine features a durable, multi-layered paint process, waterproof connectors, and internally painted cooling passages for enhanced durability in marine environments.

Honda BF60 HP Outboard Engine FAQs

  • What is the recommended maintenance schedule? Every 6 months or 100 hours: Change the engine oil, check the starter rope (if applicable), inspect and adjust spark plugs, grease lubrication points, and check the fuel filter.
    • Every year or 200 hours: Replace the spark plugs and clean the fuel tank and filter.
    • After every use: Thoroughly flush the outboard motor with fresh water, especially after use in salt water, to prevent corrosion.
  • What type of oil should I use? Honda Marine recommends using their FCW (Four Cycle Water-cooled) SAE 10W30 oil for all climates. Always use marine-specific, FC-W certified oil, not automotive oil.
  • What type of battery should I use? You can use a car battery, provided it meets the voltage and amperage specifications in your owner's manual. If using multiple outboards, install one battery for each motor.
  • What is the "BLAST" system? BLAST (Boosted Low Speed Torque) is Honda's proprietary technology that optimizes the air/fuel ratio and ignition timing to deliver rapid acceleration and improved hole shot performance.
  • Is the engine NMEA 2000 compatible? Yes, the Honda BF60 features NMEA 2000 compatibility, allowing it to connect with a wide range of marine electronic devices.
