It offers a genuine alternative to soft-bottomed inflatables, providing the rigidity, safety, and tracking of a hard-hulled RIB while remaining light enough to be managed by one person or transported on a car roof rack.

Built with a 2.5mm thick, high-tensile powder-coated aluminium hull, this boat is tough & ready to be pulled up onto shingle beaches or navigate shallow estuary waters without the fear of gelcoat chips or cracks. The PVC version features high-quality Valmex® tubes with welded seams, ensuring excellent airtightness and durability for UK coastal use.

How many people can the UL340 actually carry?

The UL340 is the largest and most spacious model in the Ultralite range. It is officially rated to carry 6 passengers (5 adults and 1 child) with a maximum payload of 438kg. This makes it the perfect choice for larger families or those who need to ferry a full crew and plenty of supplies from ship to shore in one go.

Is it really light enough for one person to handle?

Yes! Despite its size, the boat alone weighs just 53kg. Because of its high-tensile aluminium construction, it is remarkably easy to manage. Most of our customers find they can launch and recover it solo, and it is light enough to be transported on a car roof rack or lifted onto davits without straining your equipment.

What is the benefit of the 'PVC' tubes for UK boaters?

Our PVC models use premium Valmex® PVC fabric with welded seams. For the typical UK climate, PVC offers excellent durability and airtightness. It is a fantastic, cost-effective option for tenders that are used regularly and stored under a cover or indoors during the off-season. If you plan to keep the boat in the Mediterranean or high-UV environments long-term, you might consider the Hypalon version, but for most Essex and UK coastal boaters, PVC is a superb choice.

What size engine should I pair with the UL340?

The UL340 is rated for a maximum of 20hp (short shaft). At Morgan Marine, we find that a 15hp outboard offers a perfect balance of power and fuel efficiency, easily getting the boat on the plane even with a load. If you’re looking for a complete package, we can supply and fit a new Honda or Yamaha engine to get you on the water immediately.

How tough is the aluminium hull?

The 2.5mm high-tensile aluminium hull is significantly tougher than a traditional fibreglass (GRP) equivalent. It won't chip or crack if you pull it up onto the shingle at Brightlingsea or knock it against a stone slipway. Every Highfield hull is chromated and powder-coated to ensure a long-lasting, corrosion-resistant finish.
