Garmin ECHOMAP™ Ultra 2 10" Chartplotter with Transducer FAQs
Does this model support the Garmin Panoptix LiveScope™?
Absolutely. In fact, the Ultra 2 series is designed specifically with LiveScope in mind. It features a dedicated "plug-and-play" LVS port on the back, so you won't need an extra black box (GLS 10) if you are using the newer LiveScope systems. The 10-inch screen is often cited by our customers as the "sweet spot" for viewing live sonar.
What are the main differences between the Ultra 2 and the original Ultra series?
The Ultra 2 brings several key upgrades to your helm:
-
- Wireless Networking: Share sonar, waypoints, and routes with other Ultra 2 or UHD2 units without pulling extra cables through your hull.
- Multi-band GPS: This provides much improved position accuracy, especially near cliffs or tall harbour walls.
- Screen Recording: You can now capture your sonar screen directly to your phone via the ActiveCaptain® app—perfect for showing off that record catch.
What can I expect from the GT56UHD-TM transducer?
This is Garmin’s top-tier "All-in-One" transducer. It provides:
-
- High-Wide CHIRP: For crisp fish arches and target separation.
- ClearVü: For a photo-like view of what's directly beneath your boat.
- SideVü: With a massive range, allowing you to scan structure on either side of the boat in Ultra-High Definition.
Can I use my existing UK & Ireland charts?
The unit comes with a worldwide basemap, but for serious navigation in British waters, we highly recommend adding a Garmin Navionics+™ or Vision+™ microSD card. This provides the high-detail bathymetry (1-foot contours) that is essential for spotting local wrecks and reefs.
Does this unit come with a warranty?
Yes, as an authorised Garmin dealer, all our units come with a full 2-year Garmin manufacturer warranty. If you encounter any technical gremlins, you can contact us directly, and we’ll help you navigate the support or replacement process.
Is it easy to install myself?
If you are comfortable with basic 12V electrics and drilling a few holes for the transducer mount, it is very straightforward. However, if you are local to Essex or the South East, our workshop team at Morgan Marine offers professional installation services to ensure your transducer is positioned for optimum high-speed performance.
