Garmin AIRMAR B265LM

Garmin AIRMAR B265LM is a professional-grade, 1kW powerhouse designed for those who need to see clearly into the depths without sacrificing high-resolution detail in the mid-water column.
Whether you are scouting the deep-sea trenches or hunting game fish closer to the bottom, this thru-hull transducer is the gold standard for performance and reliability.

The Garmin B265LM is a dual-channel CHIRP transducer that offers the perfect balance between depth penetration and target separation. By combining Low-frequency CHIRP for deep-water tracking with Medium-frequency CHIRP for incredible resolution, it allows you to identify baitfish and game fish even when they are tightly packed or hovering near structure.

The included high-performance fairing block ensures that your sonar remains clear and effective even when steaming at speeds over 30 knots, making it an essential upgrade for sportfishing and commercial vessel.

Garmin AIRMAR B265LM Key Features

  • 1kW High-Power Performance: Delivers the "punch" needed to reach depths of up to 914 metres (3,000 ft), ensuring you never lose the bottom in deep offshore waters.
  • Dual-Channel CHIRP Versatility:
    • Low Frequency (42–65 kHz): Ideal for deep-water performance and tracking the sea floor at extreme depths.
    • Medium Frequency (85–135 kHz): Provides a wider beam (16° to 11°) for excellent coverage in the mid-water column, perfect for identifying targets suspended off the bottom.
  • Superior Target Separation: Experience "photo-like" clarity. Distinguish between individual baitfish and larger predators, even in the "clutter" of the water column.
  • High-Performance Fairing Block: Designed for optimal high-speed performance; keeps water flow "clean" over the transducer face for clear readings at speeds exceeding 30 knots.
  • Integrated Temperature Sensor: Features a fast-response water-temperature sensor, helping you find those all-important thermal breaks where fish like to congregate.
  • Built to Last: Housed in a robust bronze casing, it is specifically designed for thru-hull mounting on fiberglass or wood hulls.
  • Patented Xducer ID® Technology: Automatically provides your Garmin chartplotter with the transducer’s specific configuration data for a seamless "plug-and-play" setup.

Technical Specifications:

    • Power: 1,000 Watts (RMS)
    • Frequency Range: 42–65 kHz (Low) / 85–135 kHz (Medium)
    • Maximum Depth: 914m (3,000 ft)
    • Mounting: Thru-hull with bronze housing
    • Deadrise Compatibility: 0° to 20° (with fairing block)

Garmin AIRMAR B265LM FAQs

What makes the B265LM different from other transducers?

The B265LM is a 1kW "CHIRP-ready" transducer designed for serious offshore anglers. Unlike traditional transducers that ping on a single frequency, this unit sweeps across a range of frequencies. This results in up to 10 times greater detail, allowing you to distinguish between individual baitfish and larger game fish, even when they are tightly packed or hovering near the bottom.

What depths can I expect to reach with this unit?

This is a true deep-water performer.

    • Low Frequency (42-65 kHz): Can reach depths of up to 914 metres (3,000 feet).
    • Medium Frequency (85-135 kHz): Provides exceptional detail down to 457 metres (1,500 feet).

Why should I choose the 'LM' (Low/Medium) version over the 'LH' (Low/High)?

It all comes down to your fishing style. The Medium frequency (85-135 kHz) in this 'LM' model is the "sweet spot" for many UK anglers. It offers a wider beam than high-frequency units, giving you more coverage under the boat, while still providing significantly better target resolution than a low-frequency-only unit. It’s excellent for identifying targets suspended close to structures or the seabed.

Will this work with my existing hull?

The B265LM is a bronze thru-hull transducer. It is suitable for fibreglass or wooden hulls.

Please note, we do not recommend installing bronze transducers in metal/aluminium hulls due to the risk of galvanic corrosion. If you have a metal hull, please contact us to discuss stainless steel alternatives.

My hull has a steep deadrise; can I still install this?

Yes. The B265LM comes with a High-Performance Fairing Block. When cut to match your hull's angle, it allows for installation on deadrise angles up to 20 degrees. The fairing block also ensures "clean" water flows over the transducer face, allowing for clear sonar readings at speeds exceeding 30 knots.

Does it measure temperature as well as depth?

Absolutely. The unit includes a fast-response water-temperature sensor, which is crucial for finding the thermal breaks where game fish often feed.

Is this a "Plug and Play" installation?

This specific model is the Bare Wire version. It is designed to be professionally wired into your Garmin sonar black box (such as the GSD™ 26) or compatible chartplotters. Because it is a 1kW high-power unit, we always recommend professional installation to ensure the fairing block is correctly seated and the vessel remains watertight.
