Garmin AIRMAR B260

Garmin AIRMAR B260 are designed for those who demand the very best in target separation and deep-water sounding. By combining a large 200 kHz ceramic element for crisp, high-definition detail in shallower water with a sensitive seven-element 50 kHz array for reaching the deep, this transducer is the ultimate "all-rounder" for the serious UK angler.

The B260 is supplied with a High-Performance Fairing Block, which is essential for maintaining a clean flow of water across the transducer face. This allows for clear sonar returns even when you're steaming at speeds up to 30 knots, ensuring you don’t lose the bottom just when you need it most.

Garmin AIRMAR B260 Key Features

  • kW High-Power Performance: With ten times the power of standard 100W transducers, the B260 cuts through the water column to find fish holding tight to the seabed in depths up to 2,500ft (762m).
  • Dual-Frequency Precision: * 50 kHz (19° beam): Perfect for deep-water detection and broad coverage under the boat.
  • 200 kHz (6° beam): A narrow, concentrated beam that provides exceptional target resolution—ideal for distinguishing fish from wrecks and reefs.
  • High-Performance Fairing Included: Specifically designed to provide vertical beam orientation and reduce drag, ensuring peak performance at higher cruising speeds.
  • Fast-Response Temperature Sensor: Built-in high-accuracy sensor for tracking thermal boundaries where fish like to congregate.
  • Rugged Bronze Construction: Built to last in the harsh marine environment, suitable for installation on both wood and fiberglass hulls.

Morgan Marine Expert Tip:  The B260 is the 'go-to' choice for our Merry Fisher and Nimbus customers who want serious offshore capability. If you are looking to pinpoint structure or fish in deeper UK coastal waters, the narrow 6-degree beam at 200 kHz is unparalleled for detail.

Garmin AIRMAR B260 FAQs

What makes the B260 better than a standard 600W transducer?

The B260 is a 1kW powerhouse. Compared to a standard 600W model, it is roughly 50 times more sensitive at 50 kHz and 13 times more sensitive at 200 kHz. This means you get much clearer target separation and can "see" fish holding tight to the bottom or wrecks that lesser transducers would miss.

What are the key technical specifications?

    • Frequencies: 50 kHz (Wide 19° beam) and 200 kHz (Narrow 6° beam).
    • Power Rating: 1000W (1kW).
    • Maximum Depth: Approximately 762m (2,500ft) at 50 kHz and 294m (1,000ft) at 200 kHz.
    • Construction: High-quality Bronze housing with a fast-response water temperature sensor.

Which hull materials is the B260 suitable for?

Because it is housed in bronze, this transducer is designed for glass fibre (GRP) or wooden hulls.

Important: If you have a metal (aluminium or steel) hull, you must use the stainless steel version (SS260) to prevent galvanic corrosion. Please contact us if you need the SS260 variant.

Does it come with a fairing block?

Yes. We supply the B260 with a High-Performance Fairing Block. When properly installed and cut to your hull's deadrise, this ensures a vertical beam and allows for "clean" water flow over the transducer face. This is essential for maintaining a clear sonar return at speeds up to 30 knots.

What is the maximum deadrise angle it can handle?

With the included High-Performance Fairing, the B260 can accommodate a hull deadrise angle of up to 20°.

Is it compatible with my Garmin Chartplotter?

This specific model features a Garmin 8-pin connector. it is a direct "plug-and-play" for many Garmin sounder modules (like the GSD 24) and many echo MAP/GPSMAP units.

If your device uses a 6-pin or 12-pin connection, you will require an adapter cable.

Unsure? Give the Morgan Marine team a ring with your unit’s model number, and we’ll confirm exactly what you need.

Why is the 200 kHz beam so narrow?

The 200 kHz frequency uses a 6° beam. This narrow "searchlight" provides incredible detail and resolution, making it perfect for bottom fishing where you need to distinguish between the sea bed and fish tucked into structures or wrecks.
