An outboard that produces 15 horsepower that is actually portable, with ideally placed foldaway handles, they're perfect for any boat that needs pocket-sized power. You'll notice how quiet this engine is so you don't need to raise your voice when you raise the power.
The exclusive Honda rubber mount device soaks up the vibrations, making your journey feel smooth too. This light 350cc engine is easy to start, due to the decompression system and a Programmed ignition (PGM IG). This system accurately delivers the right amount of fuel/air mixture to the twin cylinders, so when you fire up these Hondas - even from cold - they're ready, right from the word go. With a sleek design and sculpted lines which run all the way down to the super-slim hydrodynamic gear case, this means less drag and better fuel economy.
Honda BF15 HP Outboard Engine Key Features
- Easy starter - This engine has a decompression system which makes for easy starting. This makes the engine much easier to turn over with that initial pull on this manual recoil.
- Easy Astern - In forward motion the propeller will drive the boat normally through water, but when in reverse it's a different story - unless you have a Honda. On other outboards, the propeller will turn in exhaust bubbles and wont 'latch' onto the water. Our unique reverse exhaust relief system directs the exhaust bubbles away from the propeller, so that it can 'grip' the water - instead of air. This means when you put it into reverse you get an instant response with much finer control.
- Easy manual tilt - The light engine is easy to tilt up in stages. Lifting up or down, enables you to manually trim the boat to give you maximum fuel efficiency and performance. It also prevents damage happening to the propeller blades when you find yourself near rocks or the water's edge.
- Easy on your wrist - This engine has a Forward Mount Shift Lever which means you can gear change with your fingertips. It's so much easier to operate than on other outboards, whether you're left or right-handed. Together with a soft-grip throttle handle and a twist-lock, it's effortless. You can just roll the power on and off all day long or lock it off - similar to cruise control.
- 4Front Corrosion Protection - This engine goes through a four layer coating process. We first anodise the aluminium casing with our patented 'Double Seal' process. Then an epoxy primer is applied before the shimmering silver paint. For further protection from UV rays, we apply a clear resin topcoat to finish. And to be absolutely sure, a sacrificial anode is fitted and all connectors are waterproof.
- The Honda way - Honda's founder , Soichiro Honda, wanted to ensure our outboard engines were cleaner, quieter and friendlier to the environment - so he made them 4-stroke. This made Honda pioneers in marine engine technology. Therefore, as you accelerate away, you can have peace of mind in the fact that the clean water you are boating through will be staying that way.
- Watertight warranty - Every Honda Marine customer has the support of a domestic or professional warranty, so you're covered whatever the use. It will also maintain the same value throughout its warranty period - that means your last day of cover is as good as your first. We think that's pretty unbeatable too.

Honda BF15 HP Outboard Engine FAQs
What makes the Honda BF15 stand out in its class?
It features a large 350cc displacement, providing high torque across all RPMs. It is also one of the only 15hp engines to offer Power Thrust (BFP models), which uses a 4-blade propeller and unique exhaust relief to provide 60% more thrust in reverse and 15% more in forward.
How much does the 2025 Honda BF15 weigh?
The dry weight starts at approximately 46.5 kg (103 lbs) for short-shaft manual models and goes up to about 61 kg (134 lbs) for long-shaft models with electric start and power tilt.
What is the fuel consumption?
While specific consumption varies by load, the 4-stroke design and 3-stage carburetion are optimized for high fuel efficiency. Users typically expect consumption to be between 1.0 and 1.5 liters per hour at cruising speeds.
What type of fuel and oil should I use?
Unleaded gasoline with a minimum pump octane of 86. API service classification SJ or later, specifically SAE 10W-30 marine oil.
How often does it need servicing?
Routine maintenance, including oil and filter changes, spark plug checks, and greasing, should be performed every 100 hours or every 6 months, whichever comes first.
How do I transport it without damaging the engine?
It should be stored or transported upright. If laid on its side, it must be on the side indicated by the manual (usually the tiller side) to prevent oil from leaking into the cylinders.
Can the BF15 charge my boat’s battery?
Yes. Electric start models include a 12-Amp high-output alternator, while manual start models typically offer a 6-Amp charging system. The 12-Amp system is designed to maintain battery charge even at low trolling speeds.
Does it have built-in safety alerts?
Yes, it includes a standard Engine Alert System that provides indicators and audible warnings for low oil pressure and overheating
