Honda BF115 HP Outboard Engine Key Features

  • BLAST™ (Boosted Low Speed Torque): This system dramatically improves "hole shot" and acceleration by advancing ignition spark timing and optimizing the air/fuel mixture during rapid acceleration. This delivers instant torque to get the boat on plane quickly.

  • PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection): This multi-port electronic fuel injection system uses a microcomputer to accurately control ignition timing and fuel flow, ensuring instant throttle response, smooth operation, and optimal fuel efficiency in all conditions.

  • ECOmo Lean Burn Control: At cruising speeds, the engine automatically adjusts the air/fuel mixture for maximum efficiency, which significantly reduces fuel consumption and extends range.

  • High Output Alternator: The engine is equipped with a powerful 55-amp alternator (40 amps for battery charging) to meet the demands of modern onboard electronic accessories.

  • DOHC 4-Cylinder Engine: The 2354cc inline four-cylinder engine features a Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) design for increased horsepower and reliable performance, leveraging technology from the Honda Accord automobile.

  • Low Vibration: Integrated twin counter-balancing shafts provide ultra-low vibration operation throughout the entire RPM range, ensuring a smooth and quiet ride.

  • 4-Front® Corrosion Protection System: A patented, double-sealed, multi-layered paint process, along with anodized aluminium components and stainless steel technology, provides enhanced protection against the harsh marine environment.

  • Engine Alert System: An electronic control unit (ECU) constantly monitors vital engine functions like oil pressure, engine temperature, and over-revving, alerting the operator to abnormal conditions and helping prevent damage.

  • Ease of Maintenance: The design includes features like an automotive-style oil filter and color-coded fill and dipstick to simplify routine maintenance tasks.

Honda BF115 HP Outboard Engine FAQs

What is the recommended maintenance schedule?
Every 6 months or 100 hours (whichever is first): Change the engine oil, check and adjust the spark plug, grease all lubrication points, and check the fuel filter. Every 2 years or 400 hours (whichever is first): The main fuel filter should be replaced.

What should I do before long-term storage (30 days or more)?
Fuel spontaneously degrades, so you should drain the fuel from the outboard motor to prevent engine failures. It is also advised to have the motor serviced by a local service station before storage.

How should I transport or store the motor on its side?
The engine is designed to be transported in an upright position. If you must lay it on its side, be sure to drain the engine oil out first, referring to your owner's manual for specific instructions to avoid damage.

What type of fuel should I use?
Honda engines are designed to run on regular unleaded gasoline containing 0 to 10% ethanol (E10). They are not certified for E85 or any other alternative fuels.

Can I run the engine in an enclosed space?
Never run your outboard inside a garage or other enclosure, as exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas, which can cause unconsciousness and death. Only run the engine in a well-ventilated outdoor area.

How do I find parts or service information?
For genuine parts, service manuals, or service, you should contact your local authorized Honda Marine dealer. You can find the model and serial numbers stamped on a metal plate on the right side of the stern bracket.
