Yamaha Outboard Rigging Kit 704 / CLS

Yamaha Outboard Rigging Kit 704 / CLS are the ultimate "glass cockpit" setup for mechanical-control engines. At Morgan Marine, we know that reliability and clear information are paramount when you’re out on the water. This genuine Yamaha rigging kit combines the rugged, tactile precision of the 704 Premium Binnacle with the state-of-the-art CL5 Colour Touchscreen Display.

Whether you are refitting a classic or completing a new build, this kit replaces a cluttered dash of old analogue dials with one sleek, high-definition nerve centre. Designed specifically for Yamaha’s mechanical-control EFI outboards (typically F30 to F200), it brings modern intelligence—like Trolling Speed Control and Trim Assist—directly to your fingertips.

Yamaha Outboard Rigging Kit 704 / CLS Key Features

  • 704 Premium Binnacle Control: Featuring a sleek, ergonomic design with a polished chrome finish, this top-mount control box provides effortless, one-handed operation. It includes a thumb-operated trim and tilt switch integrated into the handle for immediate adjustments.
  • CL5 High-Definition Touchscreen: A slim, low-profile 5-inch display that monitors vital engine data in crisp detail. It tracks everything from RPM and fuel flow to engine temperature and battery voltage on a customisable, easy-to-read screen.
  • Variable Trolling RPM: Perfect for anglers, the CL5 allows you to fine-tune your fishing presentation by adjusting trolling speeds in precise 50-RPM increments—a feature previously reserved for high-end digital systems.
  • NMEA 2000® Compatibility: The CL5 display is fully network-capable, meaning it can share engine data with your existing Garmin, Raymarine, or Simrad MFDs, allowing you to view your engine status on your primary navigation screens.
  • Advanced Engine Monitoring: Get real-time alerts for low oil pressure, overheating, and water-in-fuel. The CL5 acts as an early warning system, helping you maintain your engine's health and avoid costly repairs.
  • Total Integration: The kit includes a genuine Yamaha ignition switch panel and the necessary pigtail bus harnesses, ensuring a professional, "factory-fit" finish to your console.

What’s in the Box?

As your authorised Yamaha Outboard dealer, we ensure this kit comes complete with everything required for a standard installation:

    • Control Box: Yamaha 704 Premium Top-Mount (Single or Twin options available)
    • Display Unit: CL5 Digital Network Touchscreen Gauge
    • Ignition: Genuine Yamaha Key Switch Panel with Emergency Stop Lanyard
    • Wiring: Main 10-Pin Harness (8m) and Multi-Hub Assembly
    • Sensors: Speed Sensor and necessary Pigtail Bus Harnesses

Morgan Marine Pro Tip: This kit is the "gold standard" for those who want the dependability of mechanical cables with the sophisticated look of a modern digital dash.

Yamaha Outboard Rigging Kit 704 / CLS FAQs

Which Yamaha engines are compatible with this kit?

This kit is specifically designed for Yamaha’s mechanical-control EFI outboards. Generally, this covers models from the F30 right up to the F200.

Please note: This kit is not compatible with Drive-by-Wire (Digital Electronic Control) engines like the F225 V6 or the XTO V8 series. If you aren't sure which control type your engine uses, just give us a ring at the boatyard with your engine’s serial number!

What kind of information does the CL5 display show?

Think of the CL5 as the nerve centre of your boat. It replaces a whole dash full of old analogue dials with one crisp screen. It monitors:

    • Vital Signs: Engine RPM, trim position, oil pressure, and engine temperature.
    • Fuel Management: Fuel flow, fuel consumption, and remaining fuel volume.
    • Battery Status: Voltage levels for both your main and sub-batteries.
    • Maintenance: It tracks engine hours and provides service reminders so you never miss a check-up.

Can I use this kit if I have twin engines?

Yes! We offer this kit in both Single and Twin engine configurations. The Twin kit includes the dual-handle 704 binnacle and a single CL5 screen that can monitor both outboards simultaneously, keeping your dashboard clean and uncluttered.

Does the kit include the throttle and shift cables?

No, the remote control cables (throttle/shift) are sold separately. This is because every boat requires a different length. When you're ready to buy, measure the distance from your control box to the engine, and we can supply the correct genuine Yamaha cables to match.

Can I adjust my trolling speed with this setup?

Yes, and it’s a fantastic feature for our local anglers. Even though the 704 binnacle is mechanical, the CL5 display allows you to use Yamaha’s Variable Trolling RPM function. You can fine-tune your engine speed in precise 50-RPM increments directly through the touchscreen.

Will the CL5 display work with my existing Chartplotter?

It certainly will. The CL5 is NMEA 2000® compatible. By using a simple gateway cable, you can "bridge" your Yamaha engine data over to your Garmin, Raymarine, or Simrad MFD, allowing you to see your engine data on your primary navigation screen.

How difficult is the installation?

The kit is designed as a "plug-and-play" system for the digital network side of things. However, because it involves critical throttle and shift adjustments, we always recommend professional installation. If you're local to Brightlingsea, our workshop team here at Morgan Marine can handle the full installation and configuration for you.
