Raymarine Evolution Wheel Pilot with p70s control head, ACU-100, EV1 Sensor Core, EV1 Cabling kit & Wheel Drive

Raymarine Evolution Wheel Pilot with p70s control head, ACU-100, EV1 Sensor Core, EV1 Cabling kit & Wheel Drive are the ultimate "autopilot-in-a-box" solution designed specifically for wheel-steered sailboats. At its heart is the ground-breaking Evolution Ai, a technology that eliminates the need for the traditional, tedious calibration circles of the past. From the moment you leave the marina, the system begins to learn your boat's handling characteristics, evolving its commands to keep you on a pin-sharp course regardless of the wind or sea state.

Whether you are shorthanded cruising or simply want to enjoy the sunset without being tied to the helm, this complete kit provides everything you need for a professional-grade, DIY-friendly installation.

Raymarine Evolution Wheel Pilot with p70s control head, ACU-100, EV1 Sensor Core, EV1 Cabling kit & Wheel Drive Key Features

  • Intelligence Through Evolution Ai: Unlike standard autopilots, the Evolution system perceives its environment and instantly calculates steering commands. This results in precise course-keeping that can actually save fuel and get you to your destination faster.
  • Plug-and-Play Simplicity: No complicated setup or compass calibration is required. Once installed, the 9-axis sensor core automatically accounts for on-board magnetic fields and vessel dynamics.
  • The EV-1 Sensor Core: This aerospace-derived 9-axis sensor monitors your boat's motion in all three dimensions—pitch, roll, heave, and yaw—ensuring the pilot reacts before the waves can push you off course.
  • p70s Colour Control Head: Features a vibrant, optically bonded 3.5” LCD display for maximum visibility in bright sunlight. The intuitive LightHouse interface makes it easy to switch between modes like Wind Vane, Track, and Auto.
  • Robust Wheel Drive: The fully enclosed MK2 wheel drive unit is engineered for easy cockpit installation. It attaches directly to your steering wheel spokes and features a simple, robust clutch engagement for quick manual takeover.
  • Built for the Elements: Both the sensor core and the ACU-100 unit are ruggedised and sealed to IPX6 and IPX7 standards, allowing for flexible installation above or below deck.

Technical Specifications

Raymarine Evolution Wheel Pilot with p70s control head, ACU-100, EV1 Sensor Core, EV1 Cabling kit & Wheel Drive FAQs

Will this autopilot suit my boat?

The EV-100 Wheel Pilot is specifically designed for wheel-steered sailboats. The key metric to check is your vessel's fully laden displacement. This system is rated for boats up to 7,500kg (16,500lbs).

Morgan Marine Tip: Always remember to account for the weight of your fuel, water, and gear, which often adds about 20% to the manufacturer’s "dry" displacement. If your boat is close to the 7.5-tonne limit when fully loaded, you might want to talk to us about moving up to the EV-200 series.

What exactly is included in this pack?

This is a "system-in-a-box" and includes everything needed for a standard installation:

    • EV-1 Sensor Core: The "brain" that monitors your boat's motion in 9 axes.
    • p70s Control Head: The vibrant, push-button display used to operate the pilot.
    • ACU-100 Actuator Control Unit: The rugged unit that delivers power to the drive.
    • Wheel Drive: The motor unit that attaches directly to your steering wheel spokes.
    • Evolution Cabling Kit: All the SeaTalkng power and backbone cables required for the network.

Does it require a complicated calibration process?

One of the best features of the Evolution series is that it requires no complicated setup. Unlike older systems that required you to perform "circles" in the water to calibrate the compass, the EV-1 sensor core uses aerospace technology to automatically adapt to your boat’s handling characteristics and sea conditions as soon as you start moving.

Can I install this myself?

Yes, many of our customers choose a DIY installation. The wheel drive is designed to be cockpit-mounted and fits most standard wheel types (3, 4, 5, or 6-spoke).

The Sensor Core (EV-1): Can be mounted above or below deck and is fully waterproof (IPx6/IPx7).

The ACU-100: Should be mounted in a dry, protected location.

Cabling: The SeaTalkng system is essentially "plug-and-play."

Can it communicate with my existing GPS or Chartplotter?

Absolutely. The system uses SeaTalkng (NMEA 2000) networking. It can integrate seamlessly with Raymarine Axiom displays or other NMEA 2000 compatible instruments to follow a specific track or wind angle.

What is the difference between the p70s and p70Rs control heads?

This specific pack comes with the p70s. The "s" stands for Sail. It features a push-button interface which is generally preferred by sailors for precise +1° or +10° course adjustments. The "Rs" version uses a rotary dial and is more common on motorboats.

Does it come with a warranty?

When you purchase through Morgan Marine, you receive the standard Raymarine global warranty. If you register the product on the Raymarine website within 90 days of purchase, they typically extend that warranty to 3 years for extra peace of mind.
