Cruiser 200 Antifouling - Application and Use
Preparation for Previously Antifouled Surfaces
In good condition: Remove all fouling and contamination, including the leached layer. Use a high-pressure freshwater wash (3000 psi/207 bar), scraping, or wet sanding with 80-120 grit paper. Avoid dry sanding. If the existing antifouling is incompatible or unknown, seal with a suitable International Paint barrier/sealer coat.
In poor condition: Remove all traces of old antifouling using Interstrip.
Priming Bare Substrates
GRP: Prime with Gelshield 200 for osmosis protection, or use Primocon or Interprotect.
Steel, iron, lead, or wood: Prime with Interprotect or Primocon.
Refer to the relevant primer datasheet for full instructions on substrate preparation.
Mixing and Application
Mixing: Stir thoroughly until fully uniform.
Thinning: Not recommended - thinning can reduce antifouling performance.
Cleaner: Use YTA085 International Thinner No.3.
Airless spray: Pressure 2500–3200 psi (176–220 bar), tip size 517–521.
Sanding: Only wet sand antifouling; never dry sand or burn off old coatings. True colour develops after immersion.
Ventilation: Ensure good airflow and control humidity during application.
Important Tips for Long-Lasting Performance
Apply the correct amount of paint based on coverage guidelines to prevent premature failure.
Ideal product and ambient temperature: 5–35°C (41–95°F). Substrate temperature should be at least 3°C above the dew point.
High-speed boating (e.g., 30 knots) may cause faster wear.
Compatibility
Suitable for all substrates, including aluminium/alloy and zinc-sprayed surfaces when properly primed.
