Coppercoat Coverage Calculator
Coppercoat is a long-life antifouling system designed to protect your hull for many years with a single professional-grade application. To get the best performance, it’s essential to calculate the correct quantity before you begin.
To make this simple, we’ve built a Coppercoat quantity calculator to help you work out exactly how much you need based on your boat type and dimensions.
How Much Coppercoat Do I Need?
Select your vessel type below and enter your measurements to calculate the amount of Coppercoat required.

Full Bodied Craft
Motor boats, displacement yachts, or full long-keeled yachts. These hulls have a larger wetted surface area and typically require a standard calculation with no reduction factor applied.
Medium Bodied Craft
Large fin and skeg keel yachts or bilge keel yachts. These hulls have a reduced wetted surface area compared to full-bodied designs.
Light Bodied Craft
Fin-keeled yachts. These are the most efficient hull forms, with the smallest relative wetted surface area.
How the Coppercoat Calculation Works
If you want to understand the formula behind the calculator, here’s how the quantity is determined.
Step 1: Calculate Hull Area
Multiply the waterline length (LWL) by the sum of beam and draft:
Hull area (sq ft) = Waterline length × (Beam + Draft)
Step 2: Apply Hull Type Factor
Full bodied vessels: × 1.0
Medium bodied vessels: × 0.75
Light bodied vessels: × 0.65
Step 3: Convert to Square Metres (if using feet)
If your measurements are in feet:
Square metres = Result × 0.093
Step 4: Convert Area to Litres
Coppercoat covers approximately 4 square metres per litre.
Litres required = Square metres ÷ 4
Examples
Example 1: 34ft Motorboat (Full Bodied)
Waterline length: 30ft
Beam: 12ft
Draft: 2ft
Calculation:
30 × (12 + 2) = 420 sq ft
420 × 0.093 = 39.06 sq m
39.06 ÷ 4 = 9.76 litres
Recommended purchase: 10 litres
Example 2: 8.5m Fin-Keeled Yacht (Light Bodied)
Waterline length: 8m
Beam: 3.6m
Draft: 1.5m
Calculation:
8 × (3.6 + 1.8) × 0.65 = 26.52 sq m
26.52 ÷ 4 = 6.63 litres
Recommended purchase: 7 litres
